Betus.com betting line – Boise State -23
The 6th ranked Boise State Broncos are among 6 different unbeaten still left in college football and they may have the best chance of anyone to end the season that way. The Broncos put their 10-0 mark on the line again this Friday night when they travel to take on the Utah State Aggies in a Friday night lights showdown. The Broncos will be huge 23 point favorites entering the contest. Boise State has performed well as sizeable favorites this season as they hold a strong 5-1 mark ATS in 6 games this season where they were double digit favorites. The Broncos attempt to keep that trend going this Friday night.
The Aggies have a solid offense that can be effective when they have the football. The team is averaging 437 yards per game and 201 yards on the ground each of which rank inside the top 20 teams in the country. Sophomore tailback Robert Turbin has been stellar this season rushing for 1,122 yards and 9 scores. Turbin has been the most lethal threat on a consistent basis and that has really opened up the passing attack as well. QB Diondre Borel has thrown for 2,315 yards with 13 touchdowns and just 3 interceptions on the year.
The Aggies actually hold on to the ball very well which is not normal for most teams with a 3-7 record. However, it has not been the offense that has been the problem. The defense has allowed over 30 points per game and give up over 435 yards per game. The rush defense has been flat horrible allowing up to 200 yards per game ranking a miserable 110th in the country. Defensive troubles are not the types of troubles that you want to have when facing the Broncos, but the Aggies have an offense that if a few things go right then things could be surprisingly interesting.
The Broncos own the nation’s number 1 scoring offense averaging a blistering 43 points per contest. Unlike many of the top offenses around the country, the Broncos are very balanced as well. QB Kellen Moore has been absolutely sensational completing 68% of his passes on the year. When is the last time you seen a quarterback put up 32 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions? Moore keeps the bad passes limited and finds ways to put the ball in the end zone. Boise State averages right around 265 yards per game through the air and with the help of a few stellar receivers the Broncos can score in a hurry.
Those receivers are Austin Pettis and Titus Young. Both wide outs have over 50 catches, 700 yards a piece, and have combined for 23 touchdowns this season. It is safe to say these stellar wide receivers will play a big role in the touchdown production this Friday night. Another guy that will play a big factor will be running back Jeremy Avery. Avery has not put up eye popping numbers, but they are solid with 892 yards on the season and 5.9 yards per carry. However, Avery could be in store for a really big night against the rather horrific rush defense of Utah State. Once Moore comes out and completes a few passes the defense will be on their heels, and then Avery will run wild. This one will not be close.
Pick – Boise State -23
