The ACC basketball conference has some of the best teams in basketball this season and one of those teams is the Virginia Cavaliers. They are playing in the shadow of the undefeated Syracuse Orange who currently holds the top spot in the conference, but the Cavaliers should not be overlooked. They have 17 wins overall and eight wins in conference and on Wednesday night they will host the lowly Boston College Eagles.
The Eagles are having a very difficult season up to this point as they are currently mired in the basement of the conference. With just six wins overall on the season they will be hard pressed to defeat a ranked team, but they will give it a shot. The Cavs are double digit chalk in this game which is understandable since they are ranked in the top 25 of the college basketball polls. The Cavs are currently listed as (-13.5) point favorites over Boston College in this midweek matchup.
The Eagles missed out on a chance to record consecutive wins for the first time in over two months when it fell in overtime to the Fighting Irish. The only hope for the Eagles is that the Cavs have some letdown after a big win over the Pitt Panthers. The Cavaliers, are back to the rankings this week at No. 21, and have firmly kept pressure on the first-place Syracuse Orange with an exciting win at then-No. 17 Pittsburgh over the weekend, with a 3-pointer by Malcolm Brogdon in the final second proving to be the difference. They are going to attempt to bottle that energy and use that motivation in the game against Boston College.
The latest college basketball betting trends reveal that the Cavs have the edge in this game. The Cavaliers are 35-16-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 52 games following a win against the spread, 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win and 10-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall.
The Eagles are 7-16 ATS in their last 23 road games when playing against a team with a winning home record, 3-10 ATS in their last 13 road games when playing against a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600 and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 games overall.
There is some hope for the Eagles as the underdog is 5-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings. The Eagles will keep this close early and then fade away as the Cavs win big and cover this spread.
