Opening Line: Angels -115, Total 9.5 Under (-120)
Two of the best teams in the American League continue their series on Tuesday night as the Angels host the Red Sox. Joe Saunders looks to remain unbeaten as he starts for Los Angeles. Saunders is 5-0 with an ERA of 3.10 on the season. Boston goes with Tim Wakefield who is 13-9 with an ERA of 4.55 on the season. SBG Global reports that early betting has the public taking the Angels at home.
In his last start at home Wakefield was the birthday boy as he turned 41 years old and went 7 good innings, allowing just six hits and three runs in a win against Baltimore. Wakefield has been solid all year for Boston.
Saunders went 6 2/3 innings in his last start for the Angels, holding the A’s to two earned runs on six hits while striking out three and walking two. He has faced Boston once for a no-decision, going 5 2/3 innings on Aug. 22, 2006, giving up two unearned runs.

One player that is helping the Angels stay in first place in the American League West is Reggie Willits. The Angels have needed his offense and when he was out of the lineup they struggled but he may have come back too soon from injury. “Looking back on it, I might have come back a little too quick,” he said, “I was taking some pain medication before the All-Star break, and it made me a little light-headed. It’s kind of like what Casey went through when he got hit in the head. I’m sure his situation was worse than mine. It makes you feel a little woozy. I could tell I wasn’t as fast, my running speed. My comfort level on the field wasn’t quite the same.”
Willits missed three games in Baltimore, returning in Texas on July 3 and hit .231 for the month after batting .342 in June, .330 in May and .345 in April.
“You’re probably going to have a month like that no matter what,” Willits said. “It’s usually an injury that puts you into it. It disrupts your timing a little bit. If I can go out and play, I’m going to do it, even if I’m limping a bit. That’s how I’ve always been and am going to be. If I feel like I’m hurting the team, I’m not going to do it.”
