Game Overview

The New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills are going to do battle on Sunday afternoon at Gillette Stadium, where these two teams are going to be locked in a clash to try to beat the NFL betting lines.

Buffalo knows that it has to be a heck of a lot better in this game than it was when these two teams met the first time around. The defensive line was absolutely just trampled from start to finish, and it was yet another dismal game with at least 45 points allowed, one of the three this season. Matters really haven’t gotten much better since that point, as the team has been outgained in each of its last five games, and Buffalo just hasn’t had the consistency necessary offensively to make up for such a shoddy defense. Since going up 21-7 against the Patriots five games ago, the Bills have been outscored 162-72, and the games really haven’t been all that close either. WR Stevie Johnson hasn’t been to the end zone in over a month, and QB Ryan Fitzpatrick just isn’t doing a great job of keeping the ball in play. The running game has been okay, but in the end, thanks to the split back system that is now being deployed in Buffalo, neither RB CJ Spiller nor RB Fred Jackson have been able to get into the swing of the game.

The Patriots have to be licking their chops over this one. They are coming off of a 45-7 win over the St. Louis Rams on the other side of the pond, and they have now scored at least 29 points in four of their last five games. QB Tom Brady is once again playing like an MVP, and he and his teammates have the numbers to prove that this is one of the best teams in the NFL. Brady has thrown for 2,408 yards and 16 TDs against just three picks, and his two top receivers, WR Wes Welker and TE Rob Gronkowski are both having fantastic campaigns. Welker has 60 receptions, 736 yards, and two TDs, while Gronk has gone off for 580 yards and seven trips to the end zone. RB Stevan Ridley has 716 yards and five scores this year, but as always, Head Coach Bill Belichick has spread the ball around with his ground game and has gotten good production out of RB Brandon Bolden, RB Danny Woodhead, and RB Shane Vereen as well. Bolden, in fact, rushed for over 100 yards just like Ridley did against these Bills when they met earlier this year.

Prediction

As much as we would love to bet on the Bills, we have to remember that more often than not, this game is going to the Pats. They’ve dominated this series, and they just don’t lose here at Gillette Stadium for the most part, especially to teams as bad as this. Lay the heavy point spread on Sunday afternoon. New England 34 – Buffalo 20
