With a 2-1 series lead in tote, the Ottawa Senators look to push the Montreal Canadiens to the brink of elimination on Tuesday night at Scotia Bank Place for NHL betting action in what could be a brutal game.
Montreal has to get its composure back, and in a hurry if it is going to have any chance to get back into this series. The club lost its mind, starting an all-out brawl in the third period of play on Sunday night. The team got beaten in the majority of the fights on the ice, and the rest of the game, the team just kept taking shoddy penalties and making aggressive moves that there is no place for in hockey. Even worse, the Habs were visibly shaken when Ottawa called timeout with just 18 seconds left in the game, and you can bet that the team is going to try to get some retribution in this one. It’s not about dropping the gloves or making the big time hit, though. It’s about scoring more goals than the other guys and leveling this series at two games apiece, and that’s something that we aren’t sure that Montreal really has the ability to do. LW Max Pacioretty and D PK Subban, arguably the top two players on the club were seen fighting with each other on the bench on Sunday, and that isn’t going to make matters any better for the team either.
The Senators really have this series by the throat, and they aren’t going to want to let it go. They were definitively the better of the two teams on Sunday night, winning 6-1, and they have every opportunity possible here to try to essentially finish this one off. Lost in all of the mess from the 236 penalty minutes on Sunday was the fact that G Craig Anderson played himself a darn good game. Before all of the carnage broke out with melees all over the ice, Anderson stuffed up C Brian Gionta on a breakaway in a game that, at the time was competitive at 3-1. It was the biggest save of the series for sure, and it effectively ended the game. C Jean-Gabriel Pageau made a name for himself the last time on the ice, as he scored a hat trick as a rookie for his first three playoff goals, and he and his mates are going to try to finish this one off as quickly as possible.
We really think that Montreal is going to pull off some stupidity in this game, and it is going to ultimately send it down the tubes. Anderson has really outplayed G Carey Price, and as the Senators have already proven, they aren’t going to back down from the Northeast Division champs. The Sens should win this game and head back to French Canada up 3-1.
