The Pittsburgh Pirates have had all sorts of success at home, and they are going to be opening up their stadium for their raucous fans in Game 3 of the NLDS on Sunday afternoon, as they take on the St. Louis Cardinals. One of these teams will be on the verge of advancing to the NLCS at the end of this game, and we have all of the MLB betting answers to your questions about this one.

The Cards know that they have some issues right now. They are going to have to win one of these two games at PNC Park to keep their season alive, and they know that this isn’t going to be all that easy of a goal. Manager Mike Matheny has to feel good about what his lineup has generally been able to do all year long, but the lefties are going to be stymied in this game in all likelihood. That’s going to cause the lineup to move around just a bit. To make matters worse, the team has some real problems at the back of the pitching rotation, and that’s what makes this one dangerous. RHP Joe Kelly is going to be on the mound in this one. A 10-5 record and a 2.69 ERA are both good numbers, but no one is really all that sure about Kelly in the postseason. Remember that he only started 15 times all season long, and he only made seven appearances in the playoffs last year, all of which were in relief.

We all saw what happened a few nights ago in the Wild Card game against the Cincinnati Reds. That crowd in Pittsburgh is insane, and you can bet that you’re going to be hearing chants of “Kel-ly! Kel-ly!” all day long, and it is sure to get under the skin of the righty. The man that won that game for the Bucs against the Reds earlier this week, LHP Francisco Liriano is going to be on the hill to try to give the hosts a 2-1 series lead. We love what Liriano brings to the table, as he is virtually impossible hit for lefties. He never struggled a bit against Cincinnati, winning what amounted to be his 17th game of the season. After a 16-8 regular season, Liriano has definitely proven that he is back as one of the best southpaws in baseball, and this is going to be his time to shine on one of the biggest stages.

However, we think that Liriano and the Pirates are overrated in this game. We know that Pittsburgh is probably winning this game more often than not, but is it really winning this game the near 60% of the time that is required to make it profitable? We have to play the percentages here, and the percentages success that the Cardinals are winning this game often enough to be profitable.
