The Stanley Cup Playoffs will continue on Monday night in NHL betting action when the Chicago Blackhawks travel to face the Los Angeles Kings on NBC Sports Network at 9:00 p.m. ET on the ice inside the Staples Center. The Kings were dominant in Game 3 as they pulled off a victory in their first home game of the series to take a 2-1 lead.
The Blackhawks just couldn’t stop the Kings on Saturday night as they fell 4-3 on the road. The first period saw C Jonathan Toews put on a show as he scored a shorthanded goal for a 1-0 lead and then another tally for his eighth goal of the playoffs and a 2-1 advantage. After such a great start to the game Chicago couldn’t hold the lead as it had far too many defensive lapses to put one in the win column. Hawks G Corey Crawford was beaten four times in the contest as he saved 28-of-32 shots on goal. In the last four periods Crawford has allowed the Kings to score eight goals and his GAA that was 1.97 coming into this series is now a 2.23 mark. Chicago is 7-1 in its L/8 games when it gets just one day of rest and that could be a good reason for bettors to lean in its direction. The only thing for sure is that the winds have changed in this series and the Blackhawks are in a must-win situation on the road in this game.
The Kings have found their stride offensively and the win in Game 3 showed us that this squad has the ability to dominate the Blackhawks. What they’re calling “That 70’s Line” in Los Angeles has been a major thorn in the side of Chicago’s defense in the last two games as the line made up of Jeff Carter, Tyler Toffoli, and Tanner Pearson has sparked the offense. Carter and Toffoli both scored goals in the second period to give the Kings a 3-2 advantage. Then D Drew Doughty put one more on the board that gave the home team a 4-2 lead in the third that was just enough to get the job done. Los Angeles G Jonathan Quick made 24 saves on the 27 shots thrown his way on Saturday to earn his 10th win of the playoffs. All Quick has done is face the league’s best offensive units and shut them down, now he has his team just two wins away from returning to the Stanley Cup Finals. The Kings are 4-1 in their L/5 games and they have pulled off wins in their last couple of contests at home.
The Kings have every possible advantage a team could want going into Game 4 on their home ice. The home team is 8-3 in the L/11 match-ups between these two teams who play some really exciting hockey against one another. Los Angeles is actually ‘favored’ to get the win again on Monday after being labeled as pretty big ‘underdogs’ coming into this series. We like the Kings to take care of business in the Staples Center and scalp the Blackhawks for a 3-1 lead behind one of the hottest offensive units going right now.
