NFL Wildcard Pick: Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis Colts
The NFL Wildcard round of the playoffs starts this weekend and only the 12 best teams survived the regular season to make it to the playoffs. Two of those teams are the Kansas City Chiefs and the Indianapolis Colts and they will match up in Indianapolis in the AFC Wild Card game. This is a rematch from a few weeks ago when the Colts beat the Chiefs in Kansas City. Andrew Luck and the Colts will hope to repeat that performance if they hope to make it to the next round of the playoffs.
Kansas City Chiefs at Indianapolis Colts Preview
The NFL odds for this game opened with the Colts listed as (-2.5) point favorites. This line favors the Colts due to the home field advantage and the fact that the Colts recently beat the Chiefs. So far the betting action has been even as 50 percent of the action is on the Colts which have yet to prompt and point spread movement.
These teams are a lot alike in the ways that they play. Both teams sport defenses that get after the QB (both had more than 40 sacks), are in the top 10 in scoring defense but struggle to stop the run. Basically, we have a matchup of solid, aggressive defenses against quarterbacks who rarely make mistakes and exploit their opponents with their running game and their defenses more than the long ball. While Andrew Luck attempts to win games, Alex Smith just needs to manage the game if he wants to lead the Chiefs to a playoff victory. The winning team will have better play at quarterback.
The latest football betting trends for this game reveal that the Colts have more wagering angles in their favor. The Colts are 4-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 5 games after accumulating less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game, 12-2 ATS in their last 14 games after accumulating more than 250 yards passing in their previous game and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing less than 90 yards rushing in their previous game. The Chiefs are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games after allowing more than 350 total yards in their previous game, 7-1 ATS in their last 8 road games, but 0-5 ATS in their last 5 playoff games.
