SEC rivals meet at historic Rupp Arena for a Saturday afternoon college basketball betting slugfest when the Kentucky Wildcats host the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Don’t think for one second that the Crimson Tide can’t come on the road and win this game. This is a very, very talented team that has the potential to do some amazing things. The problems right now are on the offense. Alabama, a team that was once averaging over 70 points per game this season, has been held in the 50s in two straight in the SEC. Granted, those were against the Vanderbilt Commodores and the Mississippi State Bulldogs, and there is no shame in losing either game. If the Tide are going to roll out of Lexington with a win, they need fantastic games out of Tony Mitchell, JaMychal Green, and Trevor Releford. These three men are all averaging over 12 points per game, and the latter two are shooting at least 52 percent from the floor. Mitchell and Green are combining for over 14 boards and over three blocks per game. Releford is good for almost two steals per game as well. The big boys have to stay out of foul trouble and draw some fouls as well, as just like Kentucky, this isn’t an overly deep team.
Kentucky just keeps on rolling, though it is only 1-10-1 ATS in its last 12 games played here at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats are outscoring their opponents by right around 20 points per game this year, and they are truly one of the most talented squads in the entire nation. There is just no stopping this plethora of future NBA players, as all six of the top players on this team are surely going to be playing at the next level very, very soon. The problem that UK has had has been beating these big time spreads. The team had been favored by at least 9.5 in all but three games this year. At home, every spread has been at least 10. That being said, winning by 20 against teams like South Carolina, Arkansas Little Rock, Lama, Loyola Maryland, Samford, and the likes just hasn’t been good enough. Finally earlier this week, the Cats crushed the Arkansas Razorbacks 86-63 for their first cover since November 19th.
Alabama Crimson Tide @ Kentucky Wildcats Pick: Be very, very careful, Kentucky. We tend to think that the oddsmakers are once again going to overreact and make the Crimson Tide tremendous underdogs in this one. Anything more than 10 or so is a steal, as we think that this a team that can come in here and pull off the very unpredictable upset. Mitchell and Green will have to be huge, and if they are, look out! Kentucky is officially on upset alert.
