The Syracuse Orange are continuing their three game NCAA basketball betting road trip on Wednesday night at the Connecticut Huskies, as they hope to figure out how to stop this four game slide that has seen them drop out of the Top 10 in the country.

Whatever is wrong with the Orange right now just has to stop. The offense just needs to produce some more points, and in a hurry. The team has only averaged 69.0 points per game on this losing streak, a far cry from the 74.3 points per game average for the rest of the season and the over 80 points per game that a Head Coach Jim Boeheim team is used to scoring. Prior to this skid, when the ‘Cuse were 18-0, they had held four straight foes in the 50s in scoring, something that is very difficult to do in the Big East. Now, they have given up 74, 83, 90, and 76 in four straight games, something that has to come to a close if there is any hope for an upset on the road. It’d be great to see Rick Jackson get back on the double-double trail in this one, as his size in the post might be the only advantage that Syracuse really has. He watched a five game double-double streak come to a close on Saturday against the Marquette Golden Eagles when he only scored 14 points and had just four boards, 7.5 off of his season average.

We’re not so sure how Head Coach Jim Calhoun continues to do it, but he continues to find ways to win games with this team. There’s no doubting that the man of the hour is always Kemba Walker, as we know that he is going to dominate virtually every single time out there. He’s averaging 24.2 points per game this year, though we tend to believe that he has been pressing just a tad in recent games. He did put in 20 against the Louisville Cardinals, but it took 23 shots for the Bronx kid to get to that point. That parlayed with a poor shooting performance by the rest of the team (37.7%) led to the OT loss at home. Alex Oriakhi also dealt with a ton of foul trouble that night, and was limited to just six points and eight boards. He’s the team’s second leading scorer at 10.6 points per game, and he is going to have to be huge in the post if UConn has any hope of bodying with Jackson and company on the inside.

We could be catching quite a few points in this one, as the perception on the Orange really isn’t all that great. They showed a lot of heart in that loss to Marquette though, and winning at the Bradley Center is never something that is a given. Don’t be surprised if the ‘Cuse keep the Huskies reeling on Wednesday and snap that bad winning streak of their own.
