College Football Betting: Georgia vs. Georgia Tech Pick
Bragging rights in the Peach State will be on the line in NCAA football betting action when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets play host to the Georgia Bulldogs.
There is a heck of a lot going on in the SEC right now, but all of the attention is in the West Division. However, the team that has the most going for it right now aside from the LSU Tigers is in the East Division. Georgia’s nine game winning streak is the third longest in the country, and the team is going to hope to expand that winning streak going into next week’s SEC Championship Game. We tend to think that the Dawgs more or less looked past the Kentucky Wildcats last week at home, as it came off of three straight big time victories and it came on the eve of the instate rivalry game. That being said, we’re willing to issue them a pass even though the final score was only 19-10. QB Aaron Murray has 28 TD passes on the season, the most in the history of Georgia football. He has 2,446 passing yards as well, and he is leading a very well balanced offense. The defense hasn’t allowed more than 16 points in a game since November started, and this is really the side of the ball that will make the difference in this battle.
The Yellow Jackets are an 8-3 team, but they just don’t feel like a team that is one of the best in the ACC. They really have only played one good game over the course of the last two months, a 31-17 win against the Clemson Tigers right here at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Aside from that, the club has just one other victory in five tries, a 38-31 escape against the Duke Blue Devils last week. The offense revolves totally around QB Tevin Washington. He is the team’s top passer with 1,481 yards, and he is the leading rusher as well with 849 yards and 14 scores. Obviously, this triple option attack is tremendous, and it is averaging 323.5 yards per game. That being said, it just doesn’t feel like this unit is really playing at the same level that it was at the beginning of the year, as the team has only averaged 24.0 points per game after scoring at least 45 in four of the team’s first five games. The defense has been suspect as well, allowing 68 points to the Dookies and the Virginia Tech Hokies in the last two weeks combined.
Georgia Bulldogs @ Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Pick: The road team has gone 12-3-1 ATS in the last 16 meetings in this rivalry, and the home team had lost three in a row before last year’s 42-34 victory for the Dawgs. This is a relatively short point spread for UGA to be laying on the road, and as long as its eyes aren’t fixated to the SEC Championship Game next week, it should be able to get out of Atlanta with at least a full touchdown victory.
