The Arkansas Razorbacks and Texas A&M Aggies haven’t played each other as conference foes since they shared the Big 8 together. They’ll be SEC West foes next year which makes this the last time that they will fight it out as non-conference rivals in one of the biggest NCAA football betting battles on the Week 5 slate.
The Aggies watched their BCS National Championship hopes go up in flames last week when they were beaten on the road in a very winnable fixture at the Oklahoma State Cowboys. As we figured, this team just didn’t have the guts to be able to go on the road and win a game like that one, though this fixture has the potential to be every bit as tough as that one was. QB Ryan Tannehill was essentially on a honeymoon last year when he replaced the now Arizona Rattler of the Arena Football League, QB Jerrod Johnson under center. Now, that honeymoon is over. He only has 892 passing yards in four games, and he has six scores against four picks. There weren’t many in College Station that truly thought Tannehill was the better option under center in terms of talent, especially with last year being the senior season for Johnson, but he survived to tell about it because of hte fact that the team responded better to him. Now, nothing seems to be going right, and a second straight loss would really have the Aggies’ faithful up in arms.
The Razorbacks probably had their title hopes crushed last week as well against the Alabama Crimson Tide, but there are going to be far more opportunities for the Hogs to get back in the race by playing teams like A&M, South Carolina, and LSU. In fact, if this game is survived, there won’t be a battle in which Arkansas won’t be favored in all likelihood until that very last game of the year at the LSU Tigers, which very well could be for all of the marbles in the SEC West, and even more potentially as a spot in the National Championship Game. QB Tyler Wilson didn’t play well last week, but who does do well against the Alabama defense? Still, he has created a slew of big plays in the passing game, and he has 1,007 yards to his credit. RB Ronnie Wingo has done well replacing the injured RB Knile Davis, accounting for 260 yards. RB Kody Walker is stealing all of the TDs though, as he has crossed the stripe five times on the campaign.
Texas A&M Aggies @ Arkansas Razorbacks Pick: We’re just not all that wild about the Aggies this year. We don’t trust Head Coach Mike Sherman, and we don’t see the upside in this team. Arkansas has played well in this series of late, and we are most certainly questioning why it is an underdog in this clash.
