The college football season is filled with upsets and every week there is a big time team that gets knocked off by a smaller school that is playing with heart and still has plenty of fight left in them although they may not have the best record.
This week in college football, the upset can be found in the ACC in the game between the North Carolina State Wolfpack and the Maryland Terrapins.
The Wolfpack are getting plenty of national attention after knocking off the Florida State Seminoles and giving a top-ranked team their first loss of the season. Although the Wolfpack has had some time to bask in the victory, they will have hangover for this game and they are in a tough spot. The Wolfpack struggle on the road and it is clear in their trends. The Wolfpack are 0-3-1 against the spread (ATS) in their last 4 road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 road games when playing a team with a winning home record.
The home team is 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings and that is not the only great trend backing Maryland in this game. The Terrapins are 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games after accumulating less than 275 total yards in their previous game and 16-6 ATS in their last 22 games after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing in their previous game.
The big difference in this game will be the play of special teams. Stefon Diggs is an electric kick returner for the Terps and he has the ability to go all the way on every kick. Diggs will set the Terps up with great field position on every possession.
This line is so low for a reason and it’s time to fade the public and take the Terps as the upset of the week.
Upset Of the Week: Maryland +4
