Sunday, Nov. 10, 8:30 p.m. (ET)
Pointspread: New Orleans -7.5
Total Line: 54
Dallas comes into this matchup at 5-4 straight-up which right now is good enough for first place in the watered-down NFC East. Despite its inconsistency on the field it has been a solid team to bet on this season with a 7-2 record against the spread. The total has stayed UNDER in three of its last four games.
The one thing that the Cowboys have consistently been able to do is put points on the board. They are ranked fourth in the NFL in scoring with an average of 28.6 points a game. Tony Romo continues to be the driving force behind this unit with some very solid numbers on the year. He has completed 66.2 percent of 346 attempts for 2,553 yards and 20 touchdowns. Dez Bryant has accounted for 705 of those yards and eight of the scores. The big wildcard on this team is a defense that is ranked 31st in the NFL against the pass; allowing an average of 305.2 yards a game.
The Saints were on cruise control in the NFC South with six SU victories in their first seven games, but they hit a bump in the road last Sunday in a 26-20 loss to the New York Jets as six-point road favorites. New Orleans is 5-3 ATS this season and the total has gone OVER in four of its last five games.
This will be a great test to see how a very good team responds to a bad loss. On paper the Saints are one of the top two teams in the NFC. Their offense is ranked seventh in the league in scoring with 27 points a game and their defense has done a complete about face from last year by holding opposing teams to just 18.2 points a game. Drew Brees continues to put up big numbers with 2,672 passing yards and 21 touchdowns while completing 66.1 percent of his throws. The two main weaknesses are running the ball (79.8 yards a game) and defending against the run (121.2 yards allowed).
Free NFL Pick
Dallas comes into a very tough place to try and get out of it with a SU win, but it has been competitive every time its steps onto the field. The Cowboys’ four losses this season have been by a combined 14 points. It may not win this game, but the free NFL pick is Dallas covering with the 7.5 points.
