Game Overview

The Pistons are just 7-10 SU on the year but in the watered-down Eastern Conference that is good enough for eighth in the standings. They are 5-5 SU at home but they come into this matchup with a 2-5 SU record on the road. Detroit is 8-9 against the spread on the year with a healthy 5-2 record ATS in those seven road games. The total has gone OVER in 11 of the 17 games.

It has been an even affair on both sides of the ball with a scoring average of 99.2 points to go along with a Detroit defense that is allowing 100.3 points a game. The Pistons have five different players scoring in double figures led by Rodney Stuckey’s 16.9 points a game. Andre Drummond leads the team in rebounds with 12.2 a game while adding another 13.1 points. The team as a whole is shooting 45.3 percent from the field.

Miami is not the top team in the East through the early part of the new NBA season but it is getting there with a 10-game winning streak that has the defending champs 14-3 straight-up overall and 9-1 SU at home. The Heat are 9-8 ATS with a 4-6 ATS record in 10 previous home games. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their last five games.

The Heat are ranked sixth in the NBA in scoring with 104.5 points a game while shooting a highly effective 51.3 percent from the floor and 41.8 percent from three-point range. They have also played well on defense by holding teams to just 95.4 points a game, which is the fifth lowest total in the league. LeBron James still has the hot hand with 26.2 points a game and he also leads the team in rebounds (5.8) and assists (6.3). The only real weakness of this team in under the boards with an average of 35.8 rebounds a game.

NBA Free Pick

Detroit is playing much better this season, but it will be on the road against a Miami team that is playing at a much higher level. The Pistons should be able to hang tough into the fourth quarter, but look for LeBron and Co. to once again find that whole other gear to run away with this one down the stretch.

Miami 107       Detroit 95
