Two sneaky competitors from the Western Conference are going to meet in NHL betting action in the only game on the docket on Tuesday night, as the Dallas Stars take on the Anaheim Ducks.
There aren’t many teams this year that have the goods the Ducks do. They lost RW Bobby Ryan in the offseason to the Ottawa Senators, yet they still have 17 victories in their 26 games this season, though they are much better at home than they are on the road. It’s not an accident that this is one of the Top 5 offenses in the league in spite of the loss of Ryan, though. C Ryan Getzlaf and RW Corey Perry, who shared a line with Ryan for quite some time in Anaheim, each have 13 goals on the season, and the two have 52 points between them. They are scoring at will on the power play as well, as this is turning into one of the most dangerous units with the man advantage in the league. The Ducks have 12 power play goals this year which have been scored by seven different players, and if the team can come up with that type of well-rounded scoring on the man advantage, it is going to be a tough squad to halt.
The Stars are sneaky, though. They have only played eight home games out of 22 this season, and they have shown some signs of being able to do some real damage. It was only last week when Dallas went on the road against the Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Vancouver Canucks in a span of just four days, and in rare form, it swept those three contests, outscoring those Western Canadian foes 12-4 combined. Of course, since that point, the Stars have been beaten in both of their games, but this home stretch against the Ducks, the Chicago Blackhawks, and the aforementioned Oilers could be the source of a lot of points and a lot of momentum. The offense is clearly getting there behind C Jamie Benn and C Tyler Seguin. Seguin, who has been mired in the midst of the plethora of stars for the Boston Bruins for years, has finally found his voice as a leader on this Dallas team, and he has thrived with 12 goals and 11 assists to be second on the team behind only Benn with 23 points. Benn leads all skaters with 24 points, though finding big time scorers on the club after these two are far and few between.
The Ducks romped to a 6-3 victory when these two met the first time this year, but this has the potential to be a much different game on the road. Many are going to jump right on Anaheim’s bandwagon. The truth of the matter is that the Quack Attack has the better team, but on the road against a Dallas team which is hungry to be back here at the American Airlines Center, we’re willing to lay the chalk.
