It’s never too early to start thinking about the upcoming college football season and 5 Dimes makes it easy for you to do so, as the online sportsbook released lines for the first weekend of games. With the games still four months away, 5 Dimes did put a $50 betting limit into place and are charging -120 to bet.
The first game of the season isn’t exactly one of the most anticipated games, as Georgia State is -6 over Abilene Christian on Wednesday, Aug. 27, and the total on the game is 64.5. That is the only total released as of Thursday morning.
On Thursday, Aug. 28, Wake Forest is 7.5-point favorites at Louisiana-Monroe, South Carolina is -9 vs. the Texas A&M Aggies, and Vanderbilt is a 21-point favorite over Temple.
Mississippi is an 8.5-point favorite over Boise State in a game that will be played in Atlanta.
On Friday, Aug. 29, Colorado and Colorado State are even in a game that will be played in Denver, while Bowling Green is -6.5 at Western Kentucky. The BYU Cougars are favored by 14 on the road at Connecticut, Houston is -9.5 against Texas- San Antonio, and the Arizona Wildcats are 25.5-point favorites over UNLV.
On Saturday, Aug. 30, Penn State is a 1-point favorite over Central Florida in a game that will be played in Dublin, Ireland, and the Ohio State Buckeyes are 14-point favorites over Navy in Baltimore.
Notre Dame is favored by 21 over Rice, Alabama is -23.5 over West Virginia, and the Washington Huskies are 21.5-point favorites at Hawaii.
The schedule takes a big turn for the better, as Florida State does battle with Oklahoma State and the Seminoles are favored by 13.5, while LSU is favored by three over Wisconsin in Houston.
On Sunday, Aug. 31, Tennessee is favored by 6.5 over Utah State and Louisville is favored by 3.5 over Miami-Fla., on Monday, Sept. 1.
It’s important to remember that many lines are going to change over the next four months, so if you see something that you really like, now is a good time to get your number locked in, even if it is just for $50.
Several of the numbers have already changed, as BYU opened 14.5, Alabama opened 24, Penn State was even, Tennessee opened as 5.5-point favorites, and Louisville opened as 4.5-point favorites. The biggest move was Florida State, which was an 11.5-point favorite on the opening number.
The majority of the line moves make sense, as Alabama and Louisville will both have to replace quarterbacks who will be in the NFL, while Florida State returns plenty of players from last year’s team and were 10-3 against the spread while out-scoring opponents an incredible 723 to 170.
