ESPN Monday Night Baseball – San Francisco Giants vs. Atlanta Braves Pick
MLB Odds provided by VietBet:
San Francisco +140
The San Francisco Giants continue their East Coast swing tonight with the first of a four-game series against the Atlanta Braves in a showdown of two teams looking to nail-down a spot in the postseason. Game time from Turner Field is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on ESPN2.
San Francisco has been struggling as of late with just four wins in its last 10 games. It is coming off a 5-2 win over Florida as a 140 road favorite that kept it two games in back of Arizona in the NL West. The Giants are 66-55 overall this season. They are 35-25 at home and 31-30 on the road.
Production as the plate continues to haunt this team as San Francisco has averaged just 2.3 runs a game in this 10-game span. It has only managed to tally 416 total runs this season, which is ranked dead-last in the National League.
Madison Bumgarner will get the start tonight for the Giants. The left-hander is coming off one of his best starts of the season after shutting out the Pirates for seven innings to pick-up the win. He is now 7-11 on the year with a 3.53 ERA.
Atlanta had won six of its last seven games heading into a weekend series with Chicago, but it could only win one of three against the Cubs to fall to 70-51 on the year. The Braves are nine games in back of Philadelphia in the NL East, but they still have a four-game lead over San Francisco in the wildcard race. They are 35-27 on the road this season and 35-24 at home.
The bats have been clicking for Atlanta the past few weeks with an average of six runs a game in its last 10. The problem is, the Braves have been giving up runs almost at the same pace as their normally reliable pitching staff is starting to wear down a bit.
Tim Hudson will be on the mound for the Braves in this one. He is showing no sign of wearing down as he has given up just four earned runs in his last 21.1 innings pitched. Hudson is 12-7 overall with an ERA of 3.18 in 24 starts. Lifetime against the Giants, he is 6-4 with a 3.50 ERA.
These teams met once this season with Atlanta winning all three games on the road. The total went ‘over’ in the last two. Stick with the Braves to make it four straight as Hudson keeps things going for another game.
