On Saturday College Basketball betting will get started when the Ole Miss Rebels play host to the Florida Gators at 12:00 ET on CBS inside Smith Coliseum in Oxford. Ole Miss will be trying to pull a huge upset as No. 2 Florida has won all 13 of its Southeastern Conference games this season.
The Gators survived a close call in their last game beating the Auburn Tigers 71-66 at the O’Connell Center. Florida C Patric Young led the way putting up 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks in the win. Senior F Casey Prather added 16 points, nine boards, and two steals in his team’s 18th straight victory. Prather is the Gators leading scorer averaging 15.7 points per game. He had a signature night last Saturday in a 69-59 win over the No. 14 Kentucky Wildcats where he scored 24 points and swiped four steals. Florida sits atop the SEC standings at 13-0 SU in conference play and will clinch the regular season conference championship with two more wins. The Gators defense is among the best in all of college basketball as they give up just 58.3 points per game. Back on February 1st, Florida’s defense limited Texas A&M to just 36 points. At 5-3 ATS on the road, the Gators have won seven of their nine road contests on the year. Young and Prather will both be a handful for Ole Miss to handle in this game as Florida is one of the nation’s most physical teams up front and beats up its opponents with its superior size.
The Rebels were drubbed by Kentucky 84-70 on their home floor Tuesday night. Junior G Jarvis Summers helped keep Ole Miss in the game with 22 points and four assists in the loss. Summers is the team’s second-leading scorer averaging 17.0 points per game. Leading scorer G Marshall Henderson added 18 points in the loss as he is averaging 19.4 points per game this season. The Rebels will try to challenge the Gators up front with 6’9” F Aaron Jones who averages 2.2 blocks per game. Ole Miss must use a mix of inside-out to keep up with Florida in this one. The Rebels are 7-6 SU in conference play and 10-4 SU on their home floor. However, they are just 4-6-1 ATS at Smith Coliseum. Ole Miss is one of the nation’s worst defensive teams giving up 72.1 points per game and will need to try to force these Gators into mistakes if it wants to stick around late in this game. The Rebels have won three of their L/4 home games, but they are 0-3 SU against ranked opponents this season.
The Gators strength is their defense that has been bad news for every team they have come across to this point. Florida’s size will be too much for Ole Miss to stop as it has won handily against much tougher competition on the road. We expect a big scoring game from Prather and for Young to dominate in the paint. The last time these two met on March 17, 2013, Ole Miss knocked Florida out of the SEC tournament 66-63 on a neutral floor. The Gators will be out for a little revenge in this game and we believe they will get it. Florida 72 – Ole Miss 61
