A new calendar month is upon as the Major League Baseball season will hit the month of July. This is usually the start of the dog days of summer when teams start to realize that they are out of the running for a division title and they are staring to call up younger players. Other teams realize that they are in striking distance of the playoffs and will attempt to pull off a trade to become a contender. From a handicapping standpoint, it is the time to keep a very close eye on teams and watch transactions that can give the baseball betting fan an edge.
Make sure to check back on a regular basis as we will post our MLB Picks of the Day!
Here is the MLB Picks for Tuesday, July 1st, 2014.
Tampa Bay Rays at New York Yankees
One of the teams that realize they are out of the hunt in the American League is the Tampa Bay Rays. Their ace David Price is on the trading block for anyone that is willing to pay the big price. Trade rumors have distracted Price and he is having a subpar season. The Rays are 3-9 in Prices last 12 starts with 5 days of rest and 2-7 in Prices last 9 starts following a Quality Start in his last appearance. The Yankees on the other hand are in the hunt for a playoff berth and division title and will be able to win this game as a live underdog.

Arizona Diamondbacks at Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates have been a tough team to figure out as they have come into the season with high expectations but have failed to be consistent. The Diamondbacks have struggled too but starting pitcher Wade Miley has been great against the Bucs as his teams have won three of his last four starts. The Diamondbacks are 5-2 in Mileys last 7 starts as a road underdog and 14-4 in their last 18 road games with the total set at 6.5 or lower. The Pirates are 1-4 in their last 5 games following an off day and 0-4 in their last 4 home games when they go up against a left-handed starter. The Pirates are in trouble in this game as the Diamondbacks get the win at the nice price.
Free MLB Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks +117
Philadelphia Phillies at Miami Marlins
The Philadelphia Phillies and the Miami Marlins have had decent seasons but they always seem to struggle at the plate. The under is 7-2-1 in Phillies last 10 games when they face a right-handed starter and the under is 3-1-1 in Marlins last 5 games as a home favorite. The series has been dominated by low scoring games as the under is 9-3-1 in the last 13 meetings in Miami and there will be a similar output for this game.
Free MLB Pick: Philadelphia Phillies at Miami Marlins Under 7 +100
