NFL betting action continues on Thursday night with a preseason clash between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Cleveland Browns from Lincoln Financial Field in the City of Brotherly Love.
The Browns have had some major problems defensively here in the preseason, and those problems really reared their ugly heads this past week against the Detroit Lions. The Lions don’t have the greatest offense in the world, particularly once the starters head off the field, but that didn’t stop them from scoring 30 points against Cleveland in the Dawg Pound. However, there has definitely been no slowing down this Browns offense. The West Coast offense is really starting to look like it is going to work for QB Colt McCoy. He is completing almost 70 percent of his passes thus far in exhibition play, and he is the only quarterback in the league that can boast that he has already thrown four TD passes. And, to top it all off, the former Texas Longhorns stud hasn’t been picked off either. Sure, Cleveland lacks some talent at wide receiver, but there is definitely a stockpile of talent at running back, headed up by RB Peyton Hillis that can help this unit out. This is one of the highest scoring clubs in three of the four halves of the preseason, dropping more points in both of its games than its division mates, the Cincinnati Bengals have in total in two games.
There is just so much talent on the Eagles though, that it is incredibly hard to overlook them. If Head Coach Andy Reid really treats this like a dress rehearsal for the regular season, we should definitely see plenty of the likes of QB Michael Vick, RB LeSean McCoy, WR DeSean Jackson, and this newly formed juggernaut looking defense, led by the three headed monster at defensive back. Even when Vick, McCoy, and the gang come off of the field, there is still no doubt that there is plenty of talent behind them. QB Vince Young is a proven starter in this league, and third stringer QB Mike Kafka has the highest completion percentage and one of the highest QB ratings in the league in the preseason. RB Ronnie Brown will appreciate some added work in the second and third quarters of the game, and the youth and depth on this defense will surely be on display.
Cleveland Browns @ Philadelphia Eagles Pick: However, what we have to remember about the preseason is that it is still just that: The Preseason. The Eagles are definitely the better of these two teams, and we certainly expect to see them score some points. However, to ask anyone to win a game by more than a TD at this level is just too much, especially with the short training camp.
