NBA Betting Odds: VietBet
Pointspread: San Antonio -8
Total Line: 204.5
It what has to be considered an ‘instant classic’ the Warriors could not hold off a furious rally in a 129-127 double overtime loss in Monday night’s Game 1 as nine-point underdogs on the road. The total went well OVER the 202.5-point line. What has to bother Golden State the most about the loss is the fact that it blew a 16-point lead with less than five minutes to play to allow this game to go into overtime in the first place.
You cannot blame Stephen Curry for the loss, as he was the primary reason that the Warriors opened up such are large lead in this game. After a fairly routine first half, he lit up the scoreboard in the third quarter with 22 of his game-high 44 points. Klay Thompson and Harrison Barnes each added 19 points while Jarrett Jack continued to elevate his play in the postseason with 15 points. Golden State shot an impressive 51 percent from the field, but ultimately this loss has to be pinned on the fact that it could not get the shots to fall when it needed to the most.
San Antonio definitely showed some early signs of rust on Monday after an extended layoff from an opening-round sweep of the Los Angeles Lakers. It went a perfect 4-0 both straight-up and against the spread after posting four straight double-digit victories. While the Spurs might have slept walked their way through the first three quarters, they came alive just in time to rally for the win.
Team scoring leader Tony Parker led the team with 28 points, but it was the play of Kawhi Leonard and Manu Ginobili that proved to be the difference. The two combined for 34 points while hitting a number of big shots to help close the gap. The biggest play of the night was a pass and three-point shot in the closing seconds of the second overtime that proved to be the winner. The Spurs shot just 43.8 percent from the field while getting outrebounded 55-45, but they displayed that veteran poise and determination that makes them so hard to beat, especially on their home court.
Free NBA Pick
The Warriors 30-game SU losing streak in San Antonio may not come to an end on Wednesday night, but the free NBA pick in this contest is that their perfect 7-0 ATS record in this year’s playoffs will continue in another tight battle to the bitter end.
San Antonio 108 Golden State 103
