The Penguins are really playing with house money at this point, and if they are able to go on the road and win this game in the City of Brotherly Love, they are going to be just one more game away from coming all the way back from this 3-0 series deficit. Game 5 was finally a more traditional hockey game with just five goals scored, and Marc-Andre Fleury finally had his first good game of this series. He stopped 24 of the 26 shots that he faced. Still, the offense did its job, getting those three goals on the board, but they didn’t come from the sources that you would be figuring. Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby were kept off of the stat sheet in Game 4, but Tyler Kennedy, Kris Letang, and Jordan Staal all had two points apiece. These are the types of players that really make the difference for the Pens, and if they do somehow find their way out of this series, they are going to be the men that have to lead this team to the Stanley Cup.

Meanwhile, the Flyers have to be wondering whether they are going to blow the seemingly un-blow-able 3-0 series lead. They aren’t the better team in this series, but they figured that they were going to be able to win one of the final four games in this series to finally put it away. Losing this one though, and that degree of doubt would be as big as could be in a city in which the media generally has a field day. The power play was key for the Flyers in the first period of Game 5, as they did put two goals on the board on three man advantages. However, even strength goals just didn’t happen. The truth of the matter is that the game wasn’t quite as physical as the first four games of this series, and considering the fact that they aren’t as talented or as deep as the Pens, they really need to make sure that they get back in the heads of their foes with chippy play. We also want to know if Head Coach Peter Laviolette is going to pull the plug on Ilya Bryzgalov, who has had a miserable series. That being said, we already know that Sergei Bobrovsky hasn’t been able to get the job done off the bench in this series, and he was awful as a starter in the playoffs last year as well.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Philadelphia Flyers Pick: The pressure that is here on the Flyers is just too immense. This is a bad, bad spot for them to be in, especially in this city, and we think that the Penguins are going to be able to crank up that pressure even more in this one. It’s a dangerous, dangerous spot for the Flyers.
