Matchup: Indiana Pacers vs. Miami Heat Game 5
Date/Time: Thursday, May 30, 8:30 p.m. (ET)

Pointspread: Miami -7.5
Total Line: 185
Indiana came into the Eastern Conference Finals as a prohibitive underdog on the series price, but it has been able to turn this best-of-seven showdown into a best-of-three contest with a stunning 97-93 win in Game 2 as a 7.5-point road underdog and a 99-92 win as a three-point underdog at home in Tuesday night’s Game 4. The total has gone OVER in the first four games of this series.
When the Pacers play their game and get some solid help from their bench like they did on Tuesday night, they have proven they can stand toe-to-toe with the NBA’s best team. They contested almost every Miami shot in both Game 2 and 4 and controlled the boards by outrebounding the Heat by a combined 88-62. Indiana has not been known as the best shooting team in the postseason, but it shot 50 percent from the field in both of those victories.
While Miami knows it still holds the upper hand with two of the final three games on its home court, there has to be some level of concern with the way this series has gone so far. After rolling through their first two playoffs series against Milwaukee and Chicago with an 8-1 straight-up record (6-3 against the spread) the Heat have now lost as many games in their last four outings as they did in their previous 20 games.
Look for a much more focused effort for the entire Miami team on Thursday night after shooting just 39 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from three-point range in Tuesday night’s loss. LeBron James will still be the key factor after averaging a team-high 25.2 points in his first 13 postseason games, but the Heat fully realize that it will take a total team effort to regain the edge in this series.

Indiana has already exceeded most of the betting public’s expectations in this conference finals’ matchup, but when push comes to shove, the Heat are still far and away the better team of the two especially when playing at home. Bank on Miami reasserting itself as the top dog in this fight with a victory that covers the 7.5-point spread.
