Total Line: 50
Indianapolis has picked-up where it left off after posting a surprising 11-5 record in 2012. It has won four of its first five games and already has impressive victories over San Francisco and Seattle on the resume. The Colts spanked the 49ers 27-7 in Week 3 as 10.5-point underdogs on the road and this past Sunday they knocked the Seahawks from the ranks of the unbeaten by a final score of 34-28 as three-point home underdogs. The total went OVER the 43.5-point line against Seattle after staying UNDER in three of their first four games.
Still at the center of it all is second-year quarterback Andrew Luck, who continues to make plays on a weekly basis after a stellar rookie campaign. However, Indianapolis has really benefitted from a rushing attack that is averaging 142 yards a game behind a revitalized Ahmad Bradshaw and Donald Brown. The Colts’ defense has held up its end of the bargain by holding teams to just 15.8 points a game.
We are still trying to figure out San Diego after a 2-3 straight-up (3-1-1 against the spread) start. It has gone 1-2 SU in three games decided in the final seconds and after cruising past Dallas 30-21 as a one-point home underdog, it came out flat last Sunday in a 27-17 loss to Oakland as a 5.5-point road favorite. The total has gone OVER in three of its first five games.
The one constant with the Chargers is the elevated play of veteran signal caller Philip Rivers. He has already thrown for 1,610 yards and 13 touchdowns while completing a staggering 73.7 percent of his 190 passing attempts. The concern in this matchup is a running game that is averaging just 91.2 yards a game and a defense that is allowing an average of 406 total yards and 25.8 points to its opponents. None the less, this game is primed to turn into a shootout and San Diego still has one of the best gunslingers in the league.
Free NFL Pick
This game is currently listed as a PICK which would appear to favor the Colts, but you have to keep in mind that San Diego is 5-1 SU in the last six meetings. It also has a way of winning games it is not supposed to, which will be the case on Monday night.
