The Big 12 Tournament gets underway in college basketball betting on Thursday when the Iowa State Cyclones will face the Kansas State Wildcats at 12:30 ET on ESPN2 inside the Sprint Center in Kansas City.

The Wildcats had an up and down season as they finished 10-8 SU in conference play leaving them as the No. 5 seed in this tournament. They closed out the season with two losses to the Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Baylor Bears. The season had its highs and lows for Kansas State as it went 6-2 SU against ranked opponents during the regular season. That includes an 80-73 win over the Cyclones back on March 1st in Manhattan. On that night the Wildcats got a huge boost off the bench from F D.J. Johnson who scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds in the win. Freshman G Marcus Foster leads this offense averaging 15.4 points per game. Foster had 11 points in that previous win against Iowa State and will need to stand tall for Kansas State in this one. The Wildcats are a strong defensive squad as they give up just 64.9 points per game. They held opponents to just 40.5 percent shooting in regular season action. Kansas State will be hoping for a repeat performance against a team it feels it can beat on a neutral floor.

The Cyclones had an exceptional regular season going 23-7 SU and finishing the year with a No. 16 national ranking as they head into the conference tournament. Their resume is absolutely beautiful as it shows wins over ranked squads like the Michigan Wolverines, Baylor Bears, Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas State, and the Texas Longhorns. Iowa State started the season with 14 straight victories before losing three conference games in a row. Senior F Melvin Ejim leads the team averaging 18.2 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. Ejim played great in the last meeting with Kansas State he dropped 30 points and grabbed 16 boards on that night in a losing effort. Alongside him in the backcourt is senior G DeAndre Kane who is averaging 17.1 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 5.9 assists per game. If these two can get it going in this tournament the Wildcats are capable of winning the whole thing and heading to the big dance with tons of momentum. At 11-7 SU in conference play, this Iowa State group finished with the No. 3 seed for the conference tournament.

Prediction:

The Cyclones may be the ranked team in this game, but the Wildcats are the more desperate squad coming into Thursday. We feel that desperation has to be taken into account as a win would go a long way in securing a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats have already shown their ability to beat the Cyclones and we think they have the talent to do it again in Kansas City. No matter what happens, we believe this will be a very close game all the way to the end with the boys from Manhattan getting it done. Kansas State 75 – Iowa State 74
