The college basketball season world is very familiar with the Kentucky Wildcats. The Wildcats have a flashy head coach that is very popular and a stable of solid and very young players that can play well at the next level. Not many college basketball experts are familiar with the Missouri Tigers, but all of that will change if they are able to take down the Wildcats on a big SEC matchup on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers are on a roll right now and they get a chance to take down a Wildcats team that is reeling on the road. The Wildcats haven’t been very good on the road during Southeastern Conference play, losing to Arkansas and LSU. Missouri already has one big win this week a road victory over Arkansas and has won three of its last four. The Tigers’ talented backcourt of Jabari Brown, Earnest Ross and Jordan Clarkson combined for 59 points in the 75-71 victory over the Razorbacks. That type of guard play is what helps a team go deep into post season play.
The Wildcats are very young and while that is a good thing, it can show some weaknesses on very tough road games. Those young players will be hard pressed to play well in this difficult atmosphere.
The latest college basketball trends reveal that both of these teams have some negative wagering angles leading up to game time. The Wildcats are 2-12-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last 16 road games when facing a team with a home winning percentage of greater than .600, 2-12-2 ATS in their last 16 road games when playing against a team with a winning home record and 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games following a straight up loss. The Tigers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games when playing against a team with a road winning percentage of less than .400, 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games when going against a team with a losing road record and 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games following a win against the spread.
All of these trends are negative, but the Tigers do have a few positive wagering angles. They are Tigers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games when playing against a team with a winning percentage above .600 and Tigers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 games when playing against a team with a winning percentage above .600.
The world knows all about the Wildcats but after the Tigers get a big win on national television they will know all about the Tigers.
