La Salle vs. Boise State Pick
The final game of the First Four will take place on Wednesday night at UD Arena, and college basketball betting fans will love to sink their teeth into the clash pitting the Boise State Broncos up against the La Salle Explorers.
The Explorers can’t be overly happy that they are playing in the First Four, but they at least have to be happy that they aren’t playing against a team with a ton of bigs. C Steve Zack has a foot injury that has had him sidelined since the start of March, and that really only leaves F Jerrell Wright as a big man that can do some damage. The guard play is what is really going to make or break La Salle in this tournament. G Ramon Galloway and G Tyreek Duren are both gifted athletes. They can both shoot the ball from long range, they’re both respectable distributors, and they can just flat out score. Galloway is the team’s leading scorer at 17.0 points per game, while Duren is good for 15.1 points per game. Duren has also put up at least 19 in four of his last seven, and he is going to need to be special once again in this one if the A-10 reps stand any chance to advance.
The Broncos really are a two man operation at times. They are a scrappy bunch that plays really hard, but in the Mountain West, they were only the fifth best team, and in a conference so small, it lent itself to being a bubble team that is stuck going to Dayton and is lucky that it is even dancing. The two men to watch for are both guards, G Anthony Drmic and G Derrick Marks. To put this in its appropriate light as to how important these guys are, they combined to take 42 shots from the field against the San Diego State Aztecs in the quarterfinals of the MWC Tournament. The rest of the team only took a total of 21 shots, and the Aztecs only took 45 for the whole game. These men have both gone off for 20+ points quite a few times in MWC play this year, and they’re averaging a total of 36.6 points per game on the season.
Both of these teams have been tested this year, but we think that the Explorers have proven far less at this point in the year. The Broncos are the better of these two teams, and we think that Drmic and Marks are going to shine on the grand stage to bring Boise to the main field on Friday. Boise State 71 – La Salle 65
