The Angels were swept at home by Pittsburgh this past weekend by a combined score of 21-12 in the three games. They are now 33-43 on the year and 11 games in back of Texas in the AL West. They will head on the road this week with a three-game series against Houston after wrapping-up these three games against Detroit with a road record of 13-20, which is one of the worst marks in the American League. The total has stayed UNDER in four of their last six games.
Los Angeles continues to hit the ball well behind players such as Mark Trumbo, Albert Pujols and Mike Trout. These three have combined for 143 RBI and 42 home runs. The problem has been a pitching staff that is ranked 13th in the AL with a team ERA of 4.36. CJ Wilson will get the start on Tuesday night. The left-hander is 6-5 on the year with a 3.61 ERA. He is coming off his best outing of the year in which he held Seattle scoreless on just three hits in seven innings of work. Against Detroit, Wilson is 1-2 with a 4.94 ERA.
The Tigers extended their lead in the AL Central to four full games over Cleveland by taking three of four games against Boston this past weekend. They are now 42-32 on the year and 26-13 at home, which is the best home record in the American League. The total has gone OVER in four of their last five games.
The big bats for Detroit this season belong to Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder. Cabrera has already knocked-in 75 runs and belted 20 home runs while Fielder has added 58 RBI and 12 homers. Overall, the Tigers are one of the highest scoring teams in the AL with an average of 5.04 runs a game. Their pitching has been strong as well with a team ERA of 3.70. Rick Porcello will get the start for Detroit on Tuesday night. The right-hander is 4-4 this season with a 4.74 ERA. He has had his past problems against the Angels especially in his last start where he was shelled for nine runs in the first inning. Overall against Los Angeles he is 3-3 with a 7.68 ERA.

The Angels have won the six meetings against Detroit but their current form does not dictate this streak reaching seven. Bank on a much better performance from Porcello this time around as the Tigers grab the early edge with a win on Tuesday night.
