The Stanley Cup Playoffs will continue on Wednesday in NHL betting action when the San Jose Sharks play host to the Los Angeles Kings on CBC at 10:00 p.m. ET on the ice inside the SAP Center. This will be a battle in the deciding seventh game of the series as the Kings have rallied back from a three game deficit to become just the ninth team in league history to do so.
The Kings completed an impossible comeback after losing the first three games of this series to force a Game 7 scenario on the road in San Jose. Los Angeles has found its groove on both sides of the puck and is now just one win away from being only the fourth team in NHL history to come back and win a series where it trailed by three games. Everything has turned around in an instant with Kings G Jonathan Quick who had three terrible games to start the series, but since then has a 1.33 GAA and a .968 save percentage. Quick is what has made this team dangerous all season long and now in the playoffs he has recovered just in time to give them a chance to advance to the second round. In Game 6 the Kings got a 4-1 victory behind two goals from Anze Kopitar and 25 saves from Quick. If Los Angeles can keep playing this much defense it will have an excellent shot at knocking San Jose out of the playoffs.
The Sharks have watched everything they worked so hard to build in the first three games completely fall apart in the last three games. They went from scoring 5.6 goals per game to now scoring just 1.3 goals per game in that span and now must figure out a way to get the offense going again. San Jose was shutout by Los Angeles in Game 5 in a 3-0 loss that effectively swung this series in the other direction. Game 6 wasn’t much better as just 26 shots were taken in a 4-1 loss. In two of the first three games of the series the Sharks shot the puck 40 times, that is the number we will look for them to reach for a chance at success in this do-or-die Game 7. San Jose G Antti Niemi’s play declined so much that head coach Todd McLellan decided to go with Alex Stalock on Monday and he got burned. We do expect to see Niemi return between the pipes for Game 7 as there is no way McLellan can roll the dice with a back-up goalie in such an important contest.
The Kings are on a roll right now and if they get another masterful performance from Quick in Game 7 there is no way the Sharks can beat them. Los Angeles has outscored San Jose 13-4 in the L/3 games and that is something too obvious to ignore. We like the Kings to become just the fourth team in NHL history to pull off this nearly impossible feat. Los Angeles Kings @ San Jose Sharks Pick: Los Angeles Kings
