(29-5, 14-18-2 ATS)
Duke Blue Devils
(32-5, 21-13-2 ATS)
The final slot in the Final Four will be handed out at the Toyota Center on Sunday night, where the #3 Baylor Bears will play the #1 Duke Blue Devils in March Madness betting action. Neither one of these teams were really challenged in their Sweet 16 battles, as the Bears trounced St. Mary’s 72-49 in the most impressive display in the round, while Duke pulled away from Purdue late and scored a 70-57 win. These two teams are now a combined 5-1 ATS, with the only defeat against the betting lines coming when Baylor lost out on covering #14 Sam Houston State by the hook in the opening round.
You know you’re in good shape when you’ve got two players that outscore the opposition over a half of basketball. That’s what G Tweety Carter and F LaceDarius Dunn did in the first half against St. Mary’s when they combined to outscore the Gaels 27-17. The Bears never looked back from there. This is a team that has been holding its opponents to just 58.7 points per game in the dance. That’s bad news for the Dookies, as Baylor is averaging 77.1 points per clash this year.
The Dookies have outscored their three foes in the NCAA Tournament by 19.0 points per game. The offense really hasn’t hit its stride yet, as it hasn’t scored more than 73 points in a clash since the semifinals of the ACC Tournament against Miami. G Jon Scheyer still seems to be out sync just a bit, as he hasn’t scored more than his average of 18.9 points per game since the regular season came to a close against North Carolina.
The Bears will provide Duke its biggest challenged that it has faced since seeing Maryland in College Park on March 3rd. To no one’s surprise, the Blue Devils dropped that game, and they haven’t been beaten since then. However, considering the fact that this NCAA Tournament betting affair is essentially in Baylor’s backyard, it’s going to be hard to see how they’re not going to be able to, at bare minimum, stick inside this relatively hefty number.
