Miami has already run the gambit in this series with a stunning 93-86 loss at home in Game 1 as a 12.5-point home favorite, a 115-78 laugher as a 13-point home favorite in Game 2 and a strong finish in last Friday’s Game 3 to come out on top 104-94 as an 8.5-point favorite on the road. The scary thing about this series is that this team has not even come close to playing as good as it can when really pushed.
LeBron James scored a game-high 25 points in Friday’s win but he shot just 26 percent from the field. Dwyane Wade only managed to add 10 points to the winning cause and the Heat had just a 39-37 advantage under the boards despite 19 rebounds by Chris Bosh. Miami appeared to be toying with the Bulls with the game tied at 70 after three quarters, but it found the extra gear that it has relied upon all season long by dominating the final 15 minutes of the game.
Chicago fully realizes that a loss on Monday night will mean a loss in this series, but it is hard to see what it can do different to actually win this game. Both Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich remain doubtful and it is fairly obvious that Derrick Rose is not coming to the rescue. Even if all three of these players were in the lineup for this game the talent gap between Chicago and the Heat is still too wide to overcome.
The best that the Bulls can hope for is that Miami fails to find its form down the stretch and they keep things close the entire 60 minutes to steal a win at home. The reality is that Nate Robinson, Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah would still have to play the game of their lives just to give Chicago a chance to win. All Game 1’s victory did was provide a wake-up call for a sleeping bear that really does not feel like playing anymore games then necessary in its quest for another world title.
Free NBA Pick
This will be Chicago’s best chance to cover in however many games are left in this series (which will probably be one after Monday night). The free NBA pick for this contest is Miami straight-up but the Bulls covering with the 7.5 points.
Miami 97 Chicago 91
