MLB Betting Trends for Series Starting 9/23 and 9/24

We’ve reached the final week of the Major League Baseball regular season. The most exciting races left are the AL Wildcard and the NL Central. St. Louis is up by a couple games in the NL Central, but the Pirates and Reds are lurking in a tie for both second place in the division as well as the NL Wildcard spots.

Cleveland beat up on the hapless Astros to get into the second AL Wildcard spot for now. Texas is probably the only other team that has a real shot at the AL Wildcard even though a few others are mathematically still alive. We’re almost to the playoffs, and for many teams in the playoff picture it is now about seeding. Remember to check the lineups closely this week, because there will be a lot of unproven players inserted in the lineup on teams who are out of the playoff race.

BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.

-The Texas Rangers badly need to win every game from here on out. They’ll get a good chance to win early this week as they host the Houston Astros. Texas is 40-12 in their last 52 games against the Astros.

-The New York Mets will be in Cincinnati to take on the Reds this week. The Mets are actually 5-2 in their last 7 at Cincinnati, but they are just 1-8 in their last 9 meetings overall with the Reds. This is a really big series for the Reds. The under is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings between these teams.

-The Washington Nationals are 24-8 in their last 32 games. They tried to make a playoff push, but it will likely be too little and too late. Washington is in St. Louis this week. The Nationals are just 8-25 in their last 33 games at St. Louis.

-The Detroit Tigers are just 1-7 in Justin Verlander’s last 8 starts overall. It seems shocking to be saying it, but Verlander has been pretty disappointing this season. He’ll start on Monday night in Minnesota against the Twins. The Tigers are 10-1 in Verlander’s last 11 starts against the Twins.

-Cleveland has to be thrilled with who their opponent is for their next three games. The Indians host the Chicago White Sox this week. Cleveland is 18-4 in their last 22 games overall against the White Sox. They are 4-0 in their last 4 home games against Chicago.

-Totals bettors should keep an eye on the Dodgers vs. Giants series. The under is 17-6-3 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams. There is a three-game series between these two starting Tuesday night.

-The Milwaukee Brewers are 0-8 in their last 8 games in Atlanta. The Braves are 44-17 in their last 61 home games overall. Atlanta is fighting to get the best record in the National League.

-Seattle is sliding into the end of the regular season. The Mariners are 3-11 in their last 14 games overall, and 5-16 in their last 21 home games. Kansas City is 13-3 in their last 16 road games against a team with a losing record. The Royals need to win out to have any chance in the AL Wildcard race.
