MLB Betting Trends for Series Starting 8/26 and 8/27
Three of the six divisional races in Major League Baseball are still competitive. The NL Central, AL East, and AL West all could easily go right down to the wire. The Pirates and Cardinals are tied atop the NL Central now, and the Reds are only 2.5 games back. Boston is a single game ahead of Tampa Bay, and Baltimore is 5.5 games back while the Yankees are 7 games back.
Cincinnati and St. Louis will meet in a huge series early this week in St. Louis. The Dodgers will look to bounce back from the first series loss in a very long time as they host the Chicago Cubs. Oakland will be in Detroit to face the red hot Tigers. There will be plenty of action every day this week as the race for the playoffs gets very serious!
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.
-The Cincinnati Reds are just 16-35 in their last 51 games in St. Louis. The Cardinals are 6-2 in their last 8 games against the Reds overall. The Reds need this series pretty badly to stay right in the thick of the race.
-After playing terrible baseball for a couple months, the White Sox have somehow put together a very nice run. Chicago is 8-1 in their last 9 games overall. They’ll have a great chance to add to that run with the lowly Houston Astros in town early this week. Houston is 14-39 in their last 53 games.
-The Detroit Tigers are 25-9 in their last 34 games overall. They are really playing some good baseball right now. This lineup has established itself as the best in all of baseball. The starting pitching staff is very good as well. Detroit is 78-36 in their last 114 home games.
-Cliff Lee and Zach Wheeler will meet in an interesting pitching matchup Monday night in New York. The Phillies are just 1-5 in Lee’s last 6 starts, while the Mets are 8-1 in Wheeler’s last 9 starts overall. The Phillies are 11-5 in the last 16 meetings between these teams though.
-How about some very conflicting trends? The Brewers are 61-26 in their last 87 games against the Pittsburgh Pirates. At the same time, the Brewers are 0-6 in their last 6 games at Pittsburgh. The long-term trend doesn’t mean much now, since the Pirates are a much better team than they have been in a very long time.
-The Yankees are trying to stay in the AL playoff race, and they’ll be in Toronto this week. The Yankees are 35-16 in their last 51 games against the Toronto Blue Jays.
-The Baltimore Orioles will be in Boston for a huge series this week. The Orioles are 11-3 in their last 14 games at Fenway Park. Baltimore is also 23-10 in their last 33 meetings with the Red Sox overall. The Orioles have done a ton of damage to the Red Sox in recent years, and you have to think this Red Sox team remembers that well.
-The Los Angeles Angels are 3-13 in their last 16 games in Tampa Bay. They’ll be in Tampa to take on the Rays this week. The Angels are also 4-17 in their last 21 games against a team with a winning record.
