-The Cubs and Nationals start the day off with an 11:05 AM EST start time on July 4. Talk about getting a jump on the day! The Cubs have won four straight on the road, including a sweep of the Red Sox at Fenway. Chicago’s offense broke out with 16 runs in the series finale at Boston. The Nationals have won five games in a row overall too, and they are almost at full strength now. The Cubs are 3-8 in their last 11 at Washington.
-The Royals and Indians are battling for positioning in the AL Central. Those two get together for a big three-game set in Cleveland this weekend. The Indians are 0-8 in their last 8 games vs. the AL Central. Cleveland has been good at home this year though, and they really need this series. The over is 43-21-4 in the last 68 meetings between these two teams.
-The Reds swept the Giants in San Francisco and then were swept in San Diego by the lowly Padres. They return to Cincinnati to host the Brewers this weekend. Milwaukee is just 17-35 in their last 52 games at Cincinnati.
-The Yankees have hit hard times of late, but they have to be excited about their opponent this weekend. New York will be in Minnesota to take on the Twins this weekend. The Yankees are 73-27 in their last 100 games against the Twins. They are 37-15 in their last 52 games at Minnesota.
-Seattle has been a nice surprise team this year, but they haven’t had any luck in Chicago in recent years. The White Sox are 41-15 in their last 56 home games against the Mariners. Seattle is 19-7 in their last 26 road games this year though. Chicago is just 8-24 in their last 32 Friday games.
-The Diamondbacks are looking like the worst team in the National League. Arizona is 6-13 in their last 19 games, and they sit in the cellar of the NL West. Arizona goes to Atlanta this weekend, and the Diamondbacks are 3-13 in their last 16 games at Atlanta.
-Toronto holds a small lead in the AL East, but they have a tough road trip this weekend in Oakland. The Athletics are 18-6 in their last 24 home games. The Blue Jays are 1-5 in their last 6 road games. The Blue Jays are 4-1 in their last 5 games in Oakland, but the A’s should be the favorite for all the games in this series.
-The Rockies are in a serious tailspin right now. Colorado is 2-15 in their last 17 games. The Rockies are 16-35 in their last 51. Jorge De La Rosa starts for them Friday, and they are 41-10 in his last 51 home starts. The bad news is Clayton Kershaw will be on the mound for the Dodgers on Friday. The Dodgers are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these teams.
