The All-Star break starts as soon as this weekend’s series are over. Most teams are sure to be glad to have a break after a long first half of the season with very few days off. There are going to be a few teams though who just want to keep playing thanks to their red hot runs of late. Milwaukee and Toronto top my list of teams who are likely excited about the break thanks to their ugly play of late. On the other hand, teams like the Athletics and Angels would probably prefer to just keep playing.
BangtheBook wants to give you more information to make your baseball bets winning ones this year. We will be posting this MLB trends article two times each week. Expect this article on Monday’s and Thursday’s of each week. This article will highlight trends to consider for this weekend’s series’.
-Detroit is in Kansas City for a key American League Central series starting on Thursday night. The Tigers are 7-0 in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning record. They are 14-5 in their last 19 games. Kansas City is 12-4 in their last 16 vs. the AL Central overall, but they are only 3-7 in their last 10 vs. Detroit.
-Don’t look now, but the St. Louis Cardinals are just two behind the Milwaukee Brewers in the NL Central. I still believe the Cardinals are the best team in this division, and the Brewers are starting to fade. The Cardinals are 10-3 in the last 13 meetings between these teams in Milwaukee. St. Louis is 7-0 in their last 7 at Milwaukee against Yovani Gallardo, who will start on Friday night.
-Oakland is 6-1 in their last 7 games overall, but they have lost four straight on the road. The A’s will be in Seattle to take on the surprising Mariners this weekend. King Felix will start for the Mariners on Friday night against the newly-acquired Jeff Samardzija. The Mariners are 21-7 in Hernandez’s last 28 starts vs. Oakland.
-The Angels are 7-0 in their last 7 games vs. the AL West. The Texas Rangers are in a complete freefall right now. The Rangers are 0-8 in their last 8 vs. the AL West. They are 7-23 in their last 30 games overall. The Angels are 1-10 in their last 11 games at Texas, but something tells me that will change this weekend.
-The Mets and Marlins get together this weekend. The under is 13-2-2 in the last 17 games between these two teams. Miami is just 43-89 in their last 132 road games. The Mets have won four straight home games.
-Arizona has been a big disappointment all year, and the Giants have been playing poorly of late. These two meet in San Francisco this weekend. It will be Bolsinger vs. Lincecum on Friday night. The Diamondbacks are 0-6 in Bolsinger’s last 6 road games, but the Giants are 0-5 in Lincecum’s last 5 home starts vs. the Diamondbacks.
-The Pirates are 0-4 in their last 4 road games, and the Reds are 5-0 in their last 5 home games. Still, the Reds are really dinged up right now and you’ll want to check the lineups before each game to see who is playing before placing a wager in this series.
-The Padres and Dodgers meet in Los Angeles this weekend. The Padres are 4-11 in their last 15 road games. The Dodgers are 7-3 in their last 10 home games. The under is 10-1 in the last 11 meetings between these teams.
