The Baltimore Orioles are up by 7.5 games in the American League East. That’s the biggest division lead in the majors. It’s hard to imagine that he AL East, which has always been extremely competitive, is the least competitive division race at this time. The Dodgers are pulling away from the Giants and the Nationals are pulling away from the Braves as well. The Wild Card races are wide open, and there are some big series’ this weekend for those races. Keep an eye on the Yankees vs. Rays and the Pirates vs. the Nationals.

-Seattle is red hot and the Tigers are trying to keep up with the red hot Royals in the AL Central. The Mariners are 5-0 in their last 5 against a team with a winning record. They are 11-4 in their last 15 following a day off. They are off Thursday before playing in Detroit Friday. The Tigers are 4-0 in their last 4 home games. The over is 7-1-1 in the last 9 between these two teams in Detroit.
-Pittsburgh is 6-1 in their last 7 vs. the NL East, but they are without star Andrew McCutchen now. Can the Pirates continue to stay in the NL Central race? Washington is 5-1 in their last 6 as a favorite. They’ll be favored throughout this series. The Pirates are 6-2 in their last 8 games against the Nationals. The over is 10-4 in the Pirates last 14 games overall.
-The Yankees are 0-4 in their last 4, but they are 8-2 in their last 10 Friday games. Brandon McCarthy faces off against Alex Cobb in a quality pitching matchup Friday in Tampa. The Yankees are 8-18 in their last 26 games in Tampa Bay. The Rays are 4-1 in Cobb’s last 5 starts vs. the Yankees.
-Milwaukee holds a small lead in the NL Central, and they will be in Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers this weekend. The Brewers are 2-5 in their last 7 games as a road underdog. The Dodgers are 13-6 in their last 19 games and 7-3 in their last 10 home games. The Brewers are 5-2 in their last 7 at Dodger Stadium.
-Kansas City tries to keep their amazing run going this weekend in Minnesota. The Royals are 18-4 in their last 22 games. Minnesota is 5-12 in their last 17 home games. The Royals are 24-11 in their last 35 meetings between these two. They are 4-0 in Danny Duffy’s last 4 starts vs. Minnesota and he starts Friday night.
-The Padres are playing surprisingly well of late. San Diego has won five straight games. They’ll face a tougher test this weekend though as they go to St. Louis for four games. The Cardinals are 64-28 in their last 92 home games vs. a team with a losing record. The Padres are 12-40 in their last 52 games at St. Louis.
-The Angels are playing good baseball right now, and I don’t see that changing this weekend. They’ll be up against the lowly Texas Rangers. Texas is 13-39 in their last 52 games overall. Los Angeles has won the last seven meetings between these two. The over is also 20-7-1 in the last 28 meetings in Texas.
