The All-Star Break is just a week away. Teams are going to be looking to make a strong push to finish the first half of the season well. Momentum heading into the break can be a huge plus for a contending team.
The schedule is loaded with a bunch of games each day this week since everyone will be getting a nice break next week. The Dodgers have continued their great play of late, and now they are only looking up at the Diamondbacks. These teams meet for a three game series in Arizona this week. It’s a very important series to both teams.
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.
-Minnesota may have stayed competitive a little longer than most people expected this year, but the Twins have been really bad of late. Minnesota is 1-7 in their last 8 games. Josh Willingham’s injury really hurt this lineup, because he has been a great run producer for the team. The Twins take on the Rays this week, and Minnesota is 0-5 in their last 5 games against Tampa Bay.
-Something has to give in the Colorado vs. San Diego series this week. The Padres are 0-9 in their last 9 games. The Rockies are 1-6 in their last 7 games. Colorado is 19-41 in their last 60 road games. At the same time, the Rockies are 8-2 in their last 10 meetings with the Padres. Both of these teams are short-handed offensively right now, so it will be interesting to see who can muster up enough offense to win.
-The Kansas City Royals are 6-0 in their last 6 games following a loss. They’ll kick off a new series Monday night in New York against the Yankees. The Yankees are 14-2 in their last 16 games against the AL Central. To say that the Royals haven’t had any success at Yankee Stadium is an understatement. Kansas City is 12-39 in their last 51 games at Yankee Stadium.
-The Seattle Mariners host the Boston Red Sox this week. Felix Hernandez starts on Monday night. Interestingly, the Mariners are 0-9 in Hernandez’s last 9 home starts against a team with a winning record. The under is 44-20-6 in the last 70 meetings between Boston and Seattle.
-The Oakland Athletics will meet the Pittsburgh Pirates in a key interleague matchup this week. Oakland is 9-0 in their last 9 games against the Pirates. It is important to note that only three of these games have come in the past five years. The Pirates are 20-7 in their last 27 interleague home games. Oakland is 20-7 in their last 27 interleague games. Expect a great series here.
-The Texas Rangers are 7-1 in their last 8 games as an underdog. Texas is the type of team that has quite a bit of value anytime there are an underdog because of their team balance. They are 10-3 in their last 13 games against Baltimore, and they start a series with Baltimore on Monday night.
-Now that the offense is healthy, the Phillies have been an a real tear for over bettors. The over is 17-5 in the Phillies last 22 games. The over is 4-0 in the Nationals last 4 games. The over is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these teams.
