MLB Betting Trends for Series Starting 6/10
The Detroit Tigers haven’t played their best baseball yet, but they are heating up and starting to pull away in the AL Central. Detroit just swept Cleveland, who is in second place in the division. Oddsmakers continue to install the Tigers as the favorite to win the World Series.
Home teams do well in Major League Baseball, but there isn’t the same huge difference that there is in some other major sports. Home teams are 509-423 so far this year in Major League Baseball. Favorites are 532-389 and home favorites are cashing in almost 59% of the time. When it comes to the run line, road teams are cashing in at 53% so far in 2013.
There aren’t a ton of marquee matchups on the schedule this week, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make money! There’s always money to be made as long as you can find value.
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.
-The Los Angeles Angels are 40-11 in Jered Weaver’s last 51 starts as a favorite. The Angels aren’t very good right now, but the Angels are definitely going to be favored against the Orioles Monday night when Freddy Garcia starts for the Orioles. The Angels are 4-0 in Weaver’s last 4 starts against Baltimore.
-The Cincinnati Reds have absolutely owned the Chicago Cubs over the last few years. The Reds travel to Wrigley to take on the Cubs this week. Cincinnati is 40-15 in their last 55 meetings with the Chicago Cubs. They are 19-7 in their last 26 games at Wrigley Field. Homer Bailey starts on Monday, and the Reds are 7-0 in Bailey’s last 7 starts against the Cubs.
-Cleveland was a great story up until a couple weeks ago, but the wheels have fallen off for the Indians over the past few weeks. The Indians are 3-14 in their last 17 games overall. Cleveland is 0-10 in their last 10 road games against a team with a winning record. It won’t get any easier for them this week since they are headed to Texas to take on the Rangers.
-The Seattle Mariners may have two number one starters right now. King Felix is the man that everyone knows, but Hisashi Iwakuma is putting up some amazing numbers this year. The Mariners are 7-1 in his last 8 home starts. They are 12-4 in his last 16 starts overall.
-Clayton Kershaw has been amazing in his young career, but he can’t seem to find a way to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Dodgers are 0-5 in Kershaw’s last 5 starts against the Diamondbacks. He’ll meet the Diamondbacks Monday in Los Angeles.
-The Miami Marlins haven’t been able to hit against hardly anyone this year, but they have a history of high scoring games against Milwaukee. The over is 13-3 in the last 16 meetings at Miami between these teams. The over is 21-8 in the last 29 meetings overall between these two teams.
-The under is 9-1-1 in Chris Sale’s 11 starts this year. Sale had one terrible game early in the year, but for the most part he has been dominating. He starts for the White Sox on Wednesday against Toronto.
