MLB Trends for Series Starting 5/27
Before the season, many thought the Red Sox and Yankees might be battling it out to stay out of the cellar in the AL East. Instead, as of Memorial Day it is the Yankees and Red Sox tied at the top of the AL East. The Blue Jays have been one of the biggest disappointments in baseball. Remember though, there is still a lot of time left in the year.
The Marlins are 13-37 and the Astros are 14-36. There’s little doubt that these two teams will finish with the bottom two records in the majors. At the same time, there is usually very little value in betting against these teams, because the oddsmakers know just how bad they are.
It’s Interleague baseball time this week. There are some interesting matchups on the schedule. The Battle for Ohio, the Battle for New York, the Battle for Chicago, and the Battle for Los Angeles head the list of big matchups.
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.
-St. Louis is 22-7 in their last 29 games at Kansas City. The Cardinals are 12-3 in their last 15 road games, and they have the best record in the majors so far this year. Adam Wainwright starts Monday for the Cardinals, while youngster Tom Lyons starts on Tuesday.
-The Atlanta Braves are 51-22 in their last 73 games against a team with a losing record. Atlanta is 8-1 in their last 9 games against Toronto. The Blue Jays have shown signs of turning it around of late, but they’ll have to keep it going against a very good Braves team.
-If you are only going to watch one game of the Yankees vs. Mets series, it should probably be Tuesday’s game. Hiroki Kuroda will start for the Yankees against Matt Harvey for the Mets. The Yankees are 11-5 in their last 16 games at Citi Field.
-Don’t look now, but the Los Angeles Angels are getting red hot. The Angels have won eight straight games. They are 37-16 in their last 53 Interleague road games. The Angels are 50-23 in their last 73 overall Interleague games.
-Totals bettors might want to keep an eye on the under in the Cubs and White Sox series. The under is 9-2 in the last 11 games between these two teams. The under is 3-0-2 in the White Sox last 5 games overall.
-Philadelphia and Boston will meet this week in Fenway Park. The Phillies are just 8-20 in their last 28 meetings with the Red Sox. They are 1-6 in their last 7 games at Fenway Park.
-Baltimore has a history of playing some low scoring games against the NL East. The under is 9-0 in their last 9 games against the NL East. The under is also 4-0-1 in the Nationals last 5 against the AL East.
-The Pirates continue to defy the odds this year. Pittsburgh is 13-3 in their last 16 games overall. The Pirates are 10-1 in their last 11 games against a right-handed starter. Can they keep doing it this week against the Detroit Tigers? Pittsburgh is just 11-52 in their last 63 Interleague road games. Detroit is 53-21 in their last 74 home games.
