MLB Trends for Series Starting 7/19
Hopefully everyone had a nice relaxing All-Star break and is ready to get back to baseball betting this weekend. The action kicks off again this weekend. After four days off, the busy baseball schedules are back now until the end of September.
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.
-Pittsburgh is 6-0 in their last 6 Friday games. They are 11-1 in their last 12 following a day off. They’ll be in Cincinnati this weekend for a very important series against the Reds. Francisco Lirano and Mike Leake have both been pitching well, so I expect a tight game on Friday night. The under is 19-7-5 in the last 31 meetings between these teams.
-The Kansas City Royals have been the streakiest team in baseball this year. Kansas City is currently on a five-game losing streak. If they want to have any chance in the AL Central, they’ll have to turn it around starting this weekend when they host the Detroit Tigers. Kansas City is just 16-39 in their last 55 games following an off day.
-The Minnesota Twins slid right into the All-Star Break. Minnesota was 3-12 in their last 15 games before the break. They are 0-5 in their last 5 home games. They’ll host the Cleveland Indians this weekend. Cleveland is 35-17 in their last 52 as a road favorite. They’ll probably be favored in each game of this series.
-The Oakland Athletics are 36-17 in their last 53 games overall. This red hot run has put them in first place in the difficult AL West. They are in Los Angeles to take on the Angels this weekend. The Athletics are 5-1 in the last 6 meetings between these teams.
-San Francisco is 8-20 in their last 28 games overall. Will the defending champs make a run in the second half? They will host the Arizona Diamondbacks to start off the second half. The Diamondbacks have Ian Kennedy on the mound Friday. Arizona is 8-1 in his last 9 starts against the Giants.
-The Padres are 0-8 in their last 8 games against a team with a winning record. That doesn’t bode well for them this weekend against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals are clearly one of the best teams in baseball. The Padres are 12-41 in their last 53 games in St. Louis. Expect the Cardinals to be big favorites each game in this series.
-The Orioles are still fighting to stay with the Red Sox and Rays in the AL East, but they have a tough matchup this weekend. Baltimore is just 5-12 in their last 17 games against Texas. The Orioles are 2-7 in their last 9 road games overall.
-The Dodgers and Nationals are two teams who I expect a good second half from. They will meet this weekend in Washington. The Dodgers are 4-0 in their last 4 road games. Washington is 4-0 in their last 4 home games. Something has to give!
-The Phillies will be in New York this weekend to face the Mets. Philadelphia is 6-0 in their last 6 games in New York. The Mets are just 10-23 in their last 33 home games.
