MLB Trends for Series Starting 4/29
Boston has won five games in a row, and the surprising Red Sox now have the best record in the majors. Most people assumed this team would bounce back in 2013, but no one expected them to be 18-7 at this point in the year.
There are some interesting series’ this week. The Reds and Cardinals meet in a matchup of the two NL Central favorites. Washington and Atlanta meet in an NL East heavyweights matchup. The surprising Rockies travel to Los Angeles to take on the disappointing Dodgers.
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.
-Colorado has been a nice surprise so far this year, but the Rockies struggle against left-handed pitching. Colorado is 17-40 in their last 57 games against a lefty. The Rockies are 6-21 in their last 27 road games against a lefty. They’ll face left-handers on both Monday and Tuesday in Los Angeles.
-Baltimore is 8-0 in their last 8 games against the Seattle Mariners. That includes an impressive 5-0 mark in their last 5 games in Seattle.
-For some reason, the Mets aren’t any good on Tuesday’s. The Mets are 9-26 in their last 35 Tuesday games. They do play the Marlins this Tuesday, so this will be one of their best chances to improve on that poor record.
-Washington hasn’t had any success against the Atlanta Braves in their last few meetings. The Nationals are 0-7 in the last 7 meetings between these two teams. While Ace Stephen Strasburg starts on Monday night, the Nationals are actually 0-4 in Strasburg’s last 4 starts as well.
-What about the Houston Astros? Well here is your weekly reminder that this Astros team is terrible. How bad are they? Houston is 14-49 in their last 73 road games. The Astros are 11-48 in their last 59 against a team with a winning record. They are 0-7 in their last 7 meetings with the Yankees.
-The Baltimore Orioles are a resilient bunch. Baltimore is an amazing 22-4 in their last 26 games following a loss. This team has really taken on the attitude of its manager, which has allowed them to have a lot of success.
-Totals bettors might want to take a look at some strong totals trends on the Twins vs. Tigers series in Detroit this week. The over is 8-0 in Detroit’s last 8 home games against a right-handed pitcher. Max Scherzer and Mike Pelfrey start for the two teams on Monday. The over is 6-0 in Scherzer’s last 6 home starts. The over is 4-0 in Pelfrey’s last 4 starts overall.
-Pittsburgh is 15-10 so far this year, but they haven’t had any luck in Milwaukee for a very long time. The Pirates are 7-44 in their last 51 games in Milwaukee.
