MLB Trends Series Starting 6/3
The St. Louis Cardinals continue to have the best record in baseball, but they aren’t getting far away from the Pittsburgh Pirates or Cincinnati Reds in the NL Central. The Texas Rangers have the best record in the American League, but the red hot Oakland A’s are just two games back of them in the AL West as well.
The Yankees have hit the skids in the past week. The dreadful four game sweep at the hands of the Mets started the swoon, and then the Yankees lost 2 out of 3 at home to the Red Sox, who pulled farther ahead in the AL East.
Houston deserves a mention for winning five straight games as a huge underdog. The Astros may well still be the worst team in baseball, but they are showing that you can’t simply blindly bet against a team night in and night out.
BangtheBook wants to give baseball bettors some extra information to try to stay ahead of the books this year. This MLB betting article will be done twice a week during the baseball season to give you trends to consider before wagering your money on baseball. Let’s look at trends to consider for series’ this week.
-The Rockies have been a nice surprise so far this year, but they might not be a good bet this week against the Cincinnati Reds. The Rockies are 0-5 in their last 5 meetings with the Reds. Colorado is also 18-38 in their last 56 games as an underdog. They’ll likely be an underdog in each game of this series. The Reds are 20-6 in their last 26 home games.
-The Chicago White Sox are 0-7 in their last 7 road games, but they are 8-0 in their last 8 games in Seattle. They’ll face Seattle starting Monday night. Something has to give in this series.
-The New York Yankees are 37-16 in their last 53 home games against the Cleveland Indians. This may be one of those cases where bettors should throw out the old statistics though. The Yankees certainly aren’t the dominant team they have been in the last few years, and this Indians team is far better than they were expected to be.
-How bad have the Miami Marlins been? Miami is 19-51 in their last 70 games. They are 13-38 in their last 51 road games. The Marlins are 7-18 in their last 25 games in Philadelphia. The Phillies are three games under .500 going into this series, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise if they sweep the Marlins.
-The New York Mets are just 7-20 in their last 27 games against the Washington Nationals. Tuesday night Jeremy Hefner will start for the Mets and the Mets are just 1-9 in his last 10 starts. On the other side, Jordan Zimmerman starts for the Nationals. The Nationals are 20-7 in Zimmerman’s last 27 starts.
-The under is 19-6-2 in the last 27 meetings between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Detroit Tigers. This series will kick off with a great pitching matchup between Matt Moore and Anibal Sanchez on Tuesday night.
-What home field advantage? The Kansas City Royals are 1-10 in their last 11 home games. After starting the season well, the Royals have really been bad of late. They’ll look to get back on track in a home series against the Twins this week.
