The Los Angeles Clippers shot 64 percent in the first quarter and led the San Antonio Spurs by a score of 33-11 after one period. After getting a 24 point lead early in the second quarter, it all fell apart for the Clippers. San Antonio went on a massive 24-0 run in the third quarter, and they went on to win 96-86 in Game Three at Staples Center Saturday afternoon. It was a heart breaking loss for the Clippers. These teams will be back in action Sunday in the second half of a rare back-to-back scheduling spot in the playoffs.

San Antonio has now won 17 straight games overall. They won their last 10 games of the regular season and they have yet to lose in seven playoff contests. This veteran team looks like the team to beat in the playoffs at this point. San Antonio has dominated this series, winning each game by at least ten points. Tim Duncan looks fresher than he has in years, and Tony Parker is playing terrific basketball at the point guard spot.

Gregg Popovich is arguably the best coach in the business right now, and he seems to have this team peaking at the perfect time. Manu Ginobili is healthy and fresh, and he is capable of dominating a game at any time. The Spurs depth is unmatched in the NBA, and that could be a big benefit for them as they work through the playoffs. San Antonio would certainly like to finish off this series and get some more rest.

The Clippers are hobbled by injuries to both Chris Paul and Blake Griffin right now, but it appears this team just doesn’t have enough to keep up with the mighty Spurs. Griffin had 28 points and 16 rebounds in yesterday’s loss, but Paul went just 5 for 17 from the floor for 12 points. Paul has struggled with his shots all throughout this series. Parker has done a great job making it difficult for CP3 to get open looks. Mo Williams put in 19 points in Game Three for the Clippers.

Los Angeles was just 9 for 18 from the free throw line in Game Three, while the Spurs were 17 for 25 from the charity stripe. If the Clippers are going to extend this series, they’ll have to play better at the defensive end on Sunday. Tim Duncan has been carving up the interior of the Clippers defense all throughout this series.

Betting Trends

The Spurs haven’t just been winning; they’ve been covering the number consistently. They are 38-10-4 ATS in their last 52 games. They are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 games against the Clippers.

The Clippers are 3-7 ATS in their last ten games when playing on zero days of rest. They are 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 games as an underdog.

The over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings. The under is 17-3-1 in the last 21 meetings at Staples Center.

Free NBA Pick: Spurs -7

The Spurs are taking care of business in a big way right now. I don’t see them letting up, and the Clippers are a wounded bunch.
