NBA Betting Preview- New York Knicks vs Chicago Bulls
Pointspread: Chicago -8.5
Total Line: OFF
The New York Knicks will try and complete the home-and-home sweep when they tangle with the Chicago Bulls on the road this Tuesday night at the United Center. This Eastern Conference clash is slated to get underway at 9:30 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast nationally on ESPN.
New York needed overtime to get past the Bulls on Sunday in a 100-99 thriller as a three-point home underdog. The victory pushed the Knicks overall record to 29-27 both straight-up and against the spread, leaving them three games behind Boston in the Atlantic Division. They are 10-17 SU (11-16 ATS) on the road this season and the total has stayed ‘under’ in 18 of the 27 games.
With both Amar’e Stoudemire and Jeremy Lin out indefinitely with injuries, it continues to be the Carmelo Anthony show for New York. He put-up 43 points while hitting 51.6 percent of his shots against the Bulls on Sunday. This followed a 36-point night against Atlanta on March 30 and a 39-point effort against Indiana last Tuesday.
Derrick Rose made his return to Chicago’s starting lineup against the Knicks after missing the previous 12 games with a groin injury and while he scored a team-high 29 points, he missed a short jumper in the closing seconds that would have won the game.
The Bulls lead over Miami in the East in down to just two games as they dropped to 43-14 SU on the year and 32-24-1 ATS with Sunday’s loss. They are 22-6 SU at home this season but just 13-14-1 ATS. The total has gone 14-13-1 in the 28 games.
New York is 7-1 ATS in its last eight games against the Central Division but just 4-9 ATS in its last 13 road games. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 23 of its last 33 games on the road.
Chicago is 7-3-1 ATS in its last 11 games following an ATS loss and 35-14-2 ATS in its last 51 games following a SU loss. The total has gone ‘over’ in four of its last five home games.
Head-to-head, the Knicks are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings overall and 6-2 ATS in their last eight trips to Chicago. The total has gone ‘over’ in six of the last eight games overall. While New York will not pull-off the SU sweep on the road, take it to keep things close enough to cover with the 8.5 points. The Free NBA Pick: Chicago 101 New York 96
