NBA Betting Previews- New Orleans Hornets vs. New York Knicks
Pointspread: New York -11
Total Line: 185
The New Orleans Hornets continue a grueling six-game road trip this Friday night with a matchup against Jeremy Lin and the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. The game is set to tip-off at 8 p.m. (ET) and it will be available on NBA League Pass.
New Orleans is probably headed to the wrong place at the wrong time as it will try and extend its current winning streak to three games against Lin-sanity and the Knicks amazing seven-game run of their own.
The Hornets are just 6-23 straight-up, although somewhat better against the spread at 12-17. They are a woeful 3-9 SU on the road this season, but a profitable 7-5 ATS. The total has stayed ‘under’ in seven of the 12 games.
Jeremy Lin’s spectacular scoring streak of six-straight games with 20+ points came to an end on Wednesday night, but he served-up a game-high 13 assists in New York’s 100-85 rout of Sacramento as a six-point home favorite. Lin added 10 points in the win after averaging an amazing 26.8 points a game in his previous six outings.
The Knicks, under Lin’s direction, have battled their way back to .500 with a 15-15 SU record. They are 14-16 ATS and the total has stayed ‘under’ in 21 of their 30 games this year. New York continues its current five-game home stand against the Hornets where it is 8-7 SU and 7-8 ATS this year. The total has stayed ‘under’ in nine of the 15 games.
New Orleans is 7-19 ATS in its last 26 games against the Atlantic Division and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games overall. The total has stayed ‘under’ in six of its last eight games following an ATS win.
New York is 6-1 ATS since Jeremy Lin has been in the lineup and a perfect 6-0 ATS in its last six games at home. The total has stayed ‘under’ in 15 of its last 19 games following an ATS win.
Head-to-head, the Hornets are 1-6 SU and 0-7 ATS in the last seven meetings and the total has stayed ‘under’ in nine of the last 11 meetings in New York.
Given the current trends and form for both teams and the past trends in this series, it is highly doubtful that New Orleans will be the team to stop the Knicks’ linsane run from reaching eight games. With Amar’e Stoudemire back playing at a high level and Jeremy Lin directing the offense, stick with New York at home all the way with a convincing win over the Hornets.
