NBA Pick: Dallas Mavericks @ Oklahoma City Thunder Preview
The Mavs have as full of a squad as they are going to have for the time being, knowing that Lamar Odom is back in the fold (whatever good that really does the team). Delonte West is still out of the lineup, but the rest of this team is really coming together. Jason Terry is coming off of a 22 point performance off of the bench in the team’s win over the Utah Jazz over the weekend, while Dirk Nowitzki put up 40 to win that game. When you look at the rest of the talent that is all over the court for Dallas, you know that if these two can do things like this, this is going to be a team that is tough to beat. Shawn Marion, Vince Carter, Jason Kidd, and the likes are all capable of going off for 15-20 point games, and if any of the rest of these men can step up, this is a winnable game. That being said, the offense has to really get going eventually, because 94.2 points per game just isn’t going to cut it. The win over Utah snapped a four-game skid, but it didn’t snap the ATS slide that this team is on, a slide which has stretched five games.
The Thunder are going to be looking for their 30th win of the season, and they are likely going to be the second team that reaches that plateau this season regardless of which way this one goes. The top scoring duo in the game is here in the Sooner State, as both Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook have the ability to light up the scoreboard just as Dirk and Terry did on Saturday. These two are averaging well over 50 points per game this year, and if you want to throw in the third man in the bunch, James Harden is averaging over 16 points per game as well. Oklahoma City’s loss on the road to the Atlanta Hawks over the weekend was a bit of a surprise, as it was a game that it clearly should have won. The defeat snapped a seven-game winning streak, and you can bet that this game is going to want to get back on track in the near future.
The Final Word: The Thunder are clearly the better team in this game, but Dallas seems like it has gotten back on track with its win over Utah. Eventually, the covers are going to start to come again. Getting a touchdown is a big time start, and the Mavericks are capable of pulling off this upset on Monday. Take the Mavs on the road and the points.
