NBA Pick: Miami Heat @ Denver Nuggets Preview

Teams that have the ability to put a slew of points on the board every night out meet in NBA betting action on Friday night at Pepsi Arena, where the Denver Nuggets will look to add to the miseries of the Miami Heat.

NBA Pick: Miami Heat @ Denver Nuggets PreviewThe Heat came on this West Coast trip thinking that they were going to easily become the first team in the league to reach double digits worth of wins. They were going to assert themselves as the dominating team, not just in the Eastern Conference, but in the entire NBA as well… Not so much… LeBron James bricked two of his four foul shots down the stretch in regulation against the Los Angeles Clippers in Lob City two nights ago, and the end result was an overtime period that Miami was crushed in. The Golden State Warriors also pushed the Heat to overtime the night before, and again, the end result was a victory for the home side. At least there was a day off to get from Tinseltown to Denver, but in the end, this has been a grueling trip for a team that is showing its lack of depth in these tough stretches of the season. The good news is that the playoffs won’t be all that bad with all of the off days involved. The bad news is that at least for now in the regular season, the Atlanta Hawks and the Orlando Magic are creeping up on the Heat.

We have seen the Nuggets be a thorn in the side of a number of good teams this year. They have already knocked off the Los Angeles Lakers and the Utah Jazz, and they are using their depth to get the job done. This is more or less the “Anti-Miami” team. The Nuggs reach their 103.6 points per game, the second best mark in the league, by using as many as 12 players on a regular basis. Danilo Gallinari is the team’s leading scorer at 17.2 points per game, but the bad news is that the second leading scorer, Ty Lawson, has an ankle injury that has already caused him to miss one game and that might keep him out of this one tonight. Andre Miller is a capable backup, so that isn’t the issue, but beyond Miller, there is definitely a void of players that can handle the basketball. Though picking up Rudy Fernandez in the deal was nice, trading away Raymond Felton has already shown to hurt the Nuggets this year.

Miami Heat @ Denver Nuggets Trends: The home team has won four in a row in this series, including so real one sided romps here for the Nuggets. In fact, Miami hasn’t won in this building in five straight tries, losing all of those games by at least 11 points, including a 130-102 romp last season. Denver is 38-16-2 ATS in its last 56 games overall, including going 13-5-2 ATS in its last 20 home games. Miami, at the tail end of this road trip, definitely has its work cut out for it on Friday.
