NBA Report: Stock Watch Week of December 18th
The NBA season is in full swing and when it comes to handicapping the NBA it is important to know what teams are on the rise and what teams are on the decline. This is why we have the NBA Stock Watch report that we deliver on a weekly basis right here at Bang the Book.com. The NBA Stock Watch reports takes a look at four different teams that are either rising in the league or on the decline from a betting stand point. Armed with this information it can allow the basketball handicapper to take advantage of the hot, and the not so hot teams in the league.
Here is a look at two teams on the Rise and two teams on the decline in the NBA.
Phoenix Suns: The Phoenix Suns are an amazing story this season. If you bet the Suns blindly this year you would be hitting at a healthy clip as they are a remarkable 17-5-1 against the spread (ATS ) this season. The Suns have a five-game winning streak spurred by its starting backcourt playing as well — or better — than any in the NBA. They are getting healthy at the right time and don’t look like they are slowing down. Now is the time to ride the Suns until they set.
Charlotte Bobcats: The Bobcats have been one of the worst teams in the National Basketball Association over the years. That has changed this season as they have put up a 14-9-1 ATS record overall this year. They are winning for bettors although they have not fully come together as a team. They are only going to get better as the season goes along and that makes the Bobcats a team to bet on right now.
New Orleans Pelicans: The Pelicans were an early season surprise but since then the injury bug has bitten this team and the end result is bad news for basketball betting fans. The Pelicans are 9-12-1 overall against the spread and are just 4-6 on the road and 4-9 in conference. The Pelicans have been a nightmare on the NBA highway as they are 6-16 ATS in their last 22 road games. The Pelicans have a good base of young talent, but until the injuries start to clear up they are a team to fade in the future.
Golden State Warriors: Another team that has been shot down by injuries is the Golden State Warriors. This team was once picked to win it all in the Western Conference and advance to the NBA Finals. Those high expectations have brought about inflated lines and losing tickets for basketball betting fanatics willing to back the Warriors. Overall on the season they are 10-13-2 ATS but they have a few areas where they have been just plain awful. Unlike most teams at home, the Warriors struggle as they are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 home games. The Warriors are a good team, but should ba voided at all costs right now.
