NBA Report: Stock Watch Week of November 19th
Bang the Book.com has everything you need to successfully wager on the NBA. Every week we will break down the league and point out teams on the rise or the decline in our Stock Watch report. Every week we will post four teams that are rising up the ladder from a gambling standpoint and four that are to be avoided when going to the betting window.
In this Stock Watch article, like the others, we look at the best and the worst of the NBA teams to take the floor so far this year.
On The Rise
Portland Trail Blazers
Who woke up the Portland Trail Blazers? This team is off to a 9-2 record and is winning at home and on the road. This winning streak early in the season is allowing people to take notice. They have a sweet 8-3 record against the spread and they are still being undervalued by the odds makers. In the latest game against the Brooklyn Nets they were still listed as underdogs despite the horrible season so far by the Nets. The Blazers have always been a good home team, but this year they have also shown that they are a better team that they have been in the past.
The Phoenix Suns were another team that was projected to have a horrible season. Although they have started the season with a mediocre 5-4 record, they have been big ticket winners for basketball bettors willing to wager on them. The Suns have amassed a 7-1-1 record against the number and they will start to see smaller and smaller lines in the upcoming games.
On the Decline
It is interesting to note that the NBA Atlantic division does not have one team with a winning overall record. In fact only two teams, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Boston Celtics have a winning record against the spread. The Brooklyn Nets are currently in last place and they are one of the most disappointing teams in the entire league. Although they overhauled the roster in the offseason, injuries and a lack of chemistry have derailed this team. Until they jell, the Nets are a sure fire fade.
The Cleveland Cavaliers had high hopes coming into this season, but they have stumbled out of the gate. They have a 3-6 overall record on the season and are just one game above the Milwaukee Bucks in the NBA Central Division. Since they have often been installed as a favorite they also have a woeful 2-9 ATS records to start the season. The Cavs are a constant fade at this point in the young NBA season.
